Motor claim 16 months

1
TERRIBLE handling of a motor claim. Sept 2022 car reversed into me, damaged to their car, none to mine. Reported & advised they will handle everything and get in touch as often it ends a 50:50 claim without witnesses. Reassured that they will contact for more detailed info and progression of claim. If I didn’t hear from them it was likely the other party didn’t make a claim or I’m not ‘at fault’. They would fight my case. ZERO calls, emails, letters re above in 16 months. No issue or claims noted with 2023 renewal. Just renewing 2024….. ….fast forward to April 2024. Random email stating that my NCD is affected and above claim was ‘fault’ and this will affect my upcoming renewal costs and NCD. Long call later, seems they closed the case late Dec 2023. 2 letters on system Nov 2023 offering me an opportunity to dispute blame that we not actually sent (their system shows this too). Despite this, no follow up/chasing. 19 months and I’m the one now chasing! Claims employee very sympathetic and apologised many times for very poor handling of case, lack of communication, lack of chasing the claim on my behalf and the complete absence of opportunity to expand my evidence/case in a contemporaneous manner to give fair process (that’s now too late). They confirmed that there was no representation on my part by AVIVA against the third party. Livid is an understatement. I’ve been a loyal customer for many years. Raised as a complaint, but have I little faith in their ability and integrity. I’m the one left with a reduction in NCD years and increased premium costs. Stay well away. Reviewed on: 8th April 2024

Aviva raised my premium by 50% without justification.

Aviva raised my premium by 50% without justification. Despite no claims and a decade of loyalty, they neglected my request to cancel the policy two weeks before renewal and proceeded to renew it anyway. Upon contacting them again to cancel, they levied a significant cancellation fee. I am deeply dissatisfied with Aviva's practices and will be transferring all my insurance elsewhere. I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone. The helpdesk operator intentionally kept me on hold for 20 minutes in an attempt to dissuade me from pursuing my complaint regarding the cancellation fee Reviewed on: 3rd April 2024

It’s taken 5 weeks from initial contact for them to organise an inspection of the vehicle which will determine whether it is viable to repair the car the car was transported to an agents yard some 60 miles away only to be (allegedly) returned to a garage approx half a mile from where it was picked up Aviva have been organising the car to be picked up for the last three weeks and am still waiting, Do not purchase car insurance from Aviva they may beat other quotes but they will leave you stranded when you most need their assistance. Go elsewhere for motor insurance

1
Trying to buy motor insurance. First you have tio fight your way past a very basic ill programmed chatbot. When you get to someone they are not very well educated nor very helpful. They do not tell you what the options are and when they think they have you hooked they send you a scant summary of a few words the nub of which is how much they want in cash. They do not summarise the proposed policy, tyey do not display knowledge of the product and they give definitely incorrect information and when you ask for such detail they simply cannot provide it. It is difficult to say what needs to be said without being accused of some sort of bias, but 3 of 4 people had very strong non British accents and were extremely difficult to understand and clearly knew little of what they were doing. Asked to speak to a supervisor and all that happened was that the call was diverted to music and left there. Gave up as was clearly intended. Several times this happened. Modern customer care in Aviva is totally absent. Bring back the old NU - they were at least slightly competent. Reviewed on: 30th January 2024

Aviva Zero are absolutely awful.

1
Aviva Zero is a hateful experience. Forget he greenwashing nonsense, provide proper customer support instead. Using a Live Chat on the website toa call centre in Inida is atrocious. Also, the approved repairers, at least in my area, are all terrible and have shocking reviews, plus they aren't even that near me, but to use a trusted local bodyshop I have to pay a £500 excess, and because I didn't take the overpriced legal cover I have to claim it back from the other party's insurer (non-fault on my part, they admitted full liability). Aviva try and trick you into using their repairer with promises of all sorts of courtesy cars and collecting yours etc, but that just bumps up insurance prices and has no bearing on the repair quality. They also tell you the repair won't be guaranteed by them for the next three years (which is irrelevant since I won't be with them after this year is done). Aviva Zero are worse than useless. Cheap they may be, but cheerful they most certainly aren't. Avoid at all costs. Reviewed on: 25th January 2024
