Not easy to switch

Very good interest rates (which was the main reason I switched). The only room for improvement was that I wanted to transfer direct debts and not my salary from my old account to this new one. I spoke to someone on the phone who said it was all or nothing and that if I wanted direct debits to move only, then I'd have to ring up every company I had direct debts with myself and move them. Best place for your money

The Santander 123 current account is the best place for your money these days. A minimal charge for the account (£5 a month) and in return you get cashback on many household expenses plus interest on your savings which you can keep in there too (3%). 123 Account

Best interest rate available, but now fees are doubled

The 3% interest rate on my Santander123 current account has been the best thing about this packaged current account, and has encouraged me to move my savings here. However, the fee is now rising from £2 a month to £5 a month, which is disappointing and represents less value for money. It also provokes a negative feeling from the customer to the bank, as it feels like an unfair increase. Reviewed on: 13th January 2016

Does what it says on the tin!

If I'm being honest I originally got an account with Santander because they gave the best student free stuff. I got a free rail card, that's a third of your travel and when you're a student who wouldn't want that?! I have stuck with them because they have great customer service and have always helped me when in need! Will be banking with them for years to come! Reviewed on: 4th January 2016

The perfect current account

The santander 123 account is great for earning interest on money that can be easily withdrawn anytime you want. The cashback facility is useful, and the minimum pay in is quite low. It's a shame that the fee is going up from £2 a month to £5 a month, if you have other £10,000 its still worth it however. Reviewed on: 1st January 2016

Stolen card details

This was a few years ago now but I still tell people about how impressed I was with my bank. They realised that my details had been stolen and were being used without my knowledge before I did! They contacted me to check a whole list of transactions, many of which were not of my making. I was alarmed to learn how these individuals operate - at first, very small amounts of around £1 was spent, apparently to check that the account is in operation. Then the amounts increased to around £5, then got steadily bigger. The largest transaction was around £300 if I recall, for a new set of tyres - I don't own a car! What really offended and annoyed me was that these thieves had the cheek to set up a £5 direct debit to Christian Aid - talk about adding insult to injury! Nothing very Christian about setting up a 'charitable' donation without the givers knowledge! Anyhow, Santander were brilliant. They helped me sort out new details as quickly and painlessly as possible and reimbursed every single penny that had been stolen from me. I believe this is standard practice in banking, but I was so impressed with the speed with which they realised there was an issue, and the absolutely no quibble reimbursement of funds. They were very helpful and understanding and presented a very human face to what could potentially be a distant and faceless, huge organisation. I have banked with Santander for at least 25 years (back when it was Abbey National) and can genuinely say that, as a long term customer, they have never let me down or disappointed me in any way. Price Hikes

Santander have just changed its charging policy from £2 per month to £5 per month. They persuaded me onto this bank account but did not inform me that the price would rise in the near future. I am now planning to move accounts Reviewed on: 28th December 2015

Top current account

Great customer service with the best online banking website
