After 50 years with NatWest we moved to Santander

We moved our accounts to Santander, after more than 50 years banking with NatWest as their customer services had deteriorated so much. Santander is much better and whilst it is a great shame that they have closed their branch near us their on-line and telephone banking service is excellent. Clearly we should have move accounts long ago as customer loyalty clearly does not work both ways. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

Santander the worst experience we ever had

I needed scaffolding to paint the exterior of our house. Scaffolders were recommended to us and came round and quoted £2000 with £1000 to be paid upfront and the rest on delivery. We paid the deposit and then the had to delay the scaffolding being erected. This was fine but the company said they would require the rest of the money. So we paid. The date came and went and no scaffolding. The company made what seemed like legitimate excuses until months passed and we started to realise the scaffolding was never going to appear. A friend said we should speak to our bank and they could help. We called the bank and they said yes they could, we had to give them all the details, texts, emails, money etc. which in good faith we did. They then froze the company’s bank account and gave them our names as having requested this. We received a barrage of abuse and felt threatened in our own home. The police could do nothing as unless they break in to your home the fact they have stolen £2000 doesn’t count. The bank did nothing and in the end we requested they unblock their account. The bank did nothing, we lost £2000 and had the worst experience of our lives Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

An excellent bank,

An excellent bank, who really looks after their customers. The 123 account is better than most other bank accounts because of the money they pay Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

I started with 123 current account

I started with 123 current account and now have the EdgeUp current account. With this I get a good rate of interest on my balance, and cash back on certain direct debits, while having instant access to my money. My wife has a similar account, and we are both very pleased to recommend Santander to others!! Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

Very small interest on saver accounts, no overdraft...
