Real life Handmaids Tale - where is my money?

I made the mistake of sending some money to my Charter Savings account from an account that I had not registered with them. Because of this silly but small mistake the bank has been holding my money for a month and will not tell me when they will return it to me. I have been told I just have to wait until they decide. This is my money and I believe the bank should be providing me access to my money. Customer services are all very nice and but are unable to actually do anything other than tell me to wait, I have waited a month and still they are not returning the money. I’m beginning to feel as if I’m living out the start of the Handmaids Tale. Reviewed on: 18th June 2024

Security taken seriously.

A good rate of interest, the sign up procedure showed that they took security seriously, which was reassuring. It did take a little longer than I was expecting for the deposit to show in the account but not excessively so. Reviewed on: 11th April 2024

Very poor experience, similar to other reviewers...

Very poor experience, similar to the other reviewers here - ISAs have been transferred in over a month ago but there is no sign of them in the Charter Savings account. Customer service team next to no help. Very poor online interface. Opened an ISA with a different provider at the same time and everything was completed within a week. Better rates out there, Charter do not care about their customers

They increase interest rates but only by new issues, they don't tell you, you have to Google to find the rate (as you cannot get through by phone without an exceptionally long wait) and think you are getting their latest but you aren't unless you close the issue number and open another, 19 issue changes since opening account 18 months ago, they deliberately didn't show the interest rate for the account you had, this has now recently changed and it's on your account when you log in. Don't expect them to care when you do speak with someone, even "customer complaints" don't care, they hang up on you when you express they are speaking to you in a condescending manner! I am moving to a better bank with a better interest rate (5.25%) and someone to answer your calls and want you as a customer. Reviewed on: 28th October 2023

Impossible to set up online

I have tried on various devices to set up a savings account but unable to get past all the password or security questions in spite of adhering to all criteria. So I have given up and gone elsewhere to put my cash Reviewed on: 18th August 2023
