After the airline losing my luggage, Coverwise informed me they do not pay out on luggage that has been checked in!! Total joke as this is when it is at risk. Reviewed on: 6th August 2024

Never use the online website, its a trap!

"You need to carefully read your policy not once, but twice, or even three times, because there may always be situations where you are not covered. Make sure to understand the definition of a 'trip' (typically from home to home, not to a different country). Check your dates meticulously, as even a deviation by just an hour or a day can render your entire trip uncovered. Avoid ordering insurance online without due diligence, as clicking and accepting a contract inadvertently is a risk (instead, speak with a representative who can explain the terms, your plans, and the dates in detail). Ensure you thoroughly review coverage for every activity you plan to do, as some activities might not be covered or may have limitations. In the future, before embarking on any trip, consider calling your insurance company with a list of places you intend to visit, activities you plan to engage in, and the specific dates. This will allow you to obtain verbal and written confirmation of your coverage. It's likely that similar considerations apply with other insurance companies. However, when you invest in a 'silver package,' you expect to travel with peace of mind. I learned the hard way that I was not adequately covered during my last trip because of the definition of trip, inadvertently putting my financial security. Nevertheless, the insurance company was within their rights, as the policy's interpretation could indeed exclude coverage. Therefore, it's crucial to exercise caution and due diligence." I have used Coverwise for two years in a row for travel insurance. It is easy to understand what is included in the policy, and I was able to change policies this year when an unexpected trip came up, without much fuss. Reviewed on: 17th August 2023

Easy process reasonable price

4
Very easy process for taking out insurance, reasonably priced for what it was but make sure to check the fine print as cancellations due to strikes wasn’t included if the strikes had already been announced. Many insurers have this term but not all, so I ended up taking out a second insurance policy with another company for my first trip to cover planned strikes Reviewed on: 8th August 2023

Just don't do it

Cover wise and AXA - travel insurance scamming companies

1
Terrible companies bought travel insurance with coverwise who use AXA as their provider. Missed flights due to contracting a norovirus just before return flights to uk from S.A and had to rebook also was travelling with a baby. Contacted the insurance claim line to ask what was required and to start a claim, provided everything they asked for doctors reports, flight cancellations confirmation, flight rebooking details. On return to uk they then asked for access to SA clinical records and access to my UK GP’’s records which I signed and agreed,. They then came back weeks later saying I needed a GPs letter saying I was fit to travel when I left and returned ? Provided that at my cost £50 and heard nothing for weeks, contacted them and they said it was delayed, then they said two weeks later they didn’t know why it was delayed that I should file a complaint if I don’t hear in 10 days, didn’t hear from them contacted them and they David it was with the medical team and I should have an outcome decision shortly, nothing heard for two week contacted again and now they say they want the last 5yrs of my GPs records again ( for contracting a norovirus) at a further cost of £50 not initially asked for with no reason as to why it’s required. These are terrible companies who should be closed down by the insurance ombudsman they are scammers who try to put off anyone making a claim and delay them to the point of giving up. 7 Months and waiting just to get one night in a hotel paid out!

They are cheap for a reason. 7 months of calls and emails and still no pay-out. Avoid them and parent group AXA. Now renewed with AVIVA for peace of mind. Reviewed on: 20th January 2023
