Cover wise and AXA - travel insurance scamming companies

Terrible companies bought travel insurance with coverwise who use AXA as their provider. Missed flights due to contracting a norovirus just before return flights to uk from S.A and had to rebook also was travelling with a baby. Contacted the insurance claim line to ask what was required and to start a claim, provided everything they asked for doctors reports, flight cancellations confirmation, flight rebooking details. On return to uk they then asked for access to SA clinical records and access to my UK GP’’s records which I signed and agreed,. They then came back weeks later saying I needed a GPs letter saying I was fit to travel when I left and returned ? Provided that at my cost £50 and heard nothing for weeks, contacted them and they said it was delayed, then they said two weeks later they didn’t know why it was delayed that I should file a complaint if I don’t hear in 10 days, didn’t hear from them contacted them and they David it was with the medical team and I should have an outcome decision shortly, nothing heard for two week contacted again and now they say they want the last 5yrs of my GPs records again ( for contracting a norovirus) at a further cost of £50 not initially asked for with no reason as to why it’s required. These are terrible companies who should be closed down by the insurance ombudsman they are scammers who try to put off anyone making a claim and delay them to the point of giving up. 7 Months and waiting just to get one night in a hotel paid out!

They are cheap for a reason. 7 months of calls and emails and still no pay-out. Avoid them and parent group AXA. Now renewed with AVIVA for peace of mind. Reviewed on: 20th January 2023

If I could give 0 stars I would

Impossible to get hold of, make you fill multiple forms, just to decline your claim with no reasoning and when you contact for further elaboration you just get ignored. Flight cancelled, had to re-book another one for the next morning, out of pocket for an over night hotel at airport and a one night stay in Mallorca we couldn't use. Will never use again, and wouldn't recommend to anyone. Don't waste your money! Reviewed on: 19th December 2022

Shambolic

Coverwise direct me to AXA. AXA direct me to Coverwise.. endless phone calls getting nowhere. What should be a straightforward travel claim has taken so much time I’ve now given up. Opaque process, shockingly poor customer service (if you’re lucky enough to speak to a human, as opposed to an automated response). It’s clear this insurance company make money by having an inadequate claim system which puts customers off from claiming. I will be cancelling our travel insurance policy. What a dire company

I would have given no stars. I have sent every possible piece of paperwork for a claim on my travel insurance. They dont answer emails or phones. Ive sent numerous claims forms for the same claim, still nothing. This has now been 4 months since i originally made the claim. DONT bother with them they are a toal shambles. Impossible to claim

Please don't waste your money! Fantastic customer service when buying or reviewing but as soon as you want to make a claim then it is impossible. I have spent hours on the phone never to be answered, the website constantly shows an error and I have no replies to emails. Absolutely shocking. According to my policy, I should be able to claim a large amount of money back but I have sadly had to accept I have been conned by this company and I will not be getting this back. Never use Coverwise

They may be cheap, but please never ever use Coverwise for travel insurance. They don’t respond to emails, takes hours to get through on the phone only to be cut off, and don’t respond to claims. They are scammers. Reviewed on: 5th October 2022

Disgusting service

I am so disgusted with the service I have received, and am now going down the complaints route to have my issue fully investigated. If you’re thinking of purchasing this policy, DON’T! If you’ve already purchased this policy, it is not impossible to get your full compensation, but unfortunately it takes a considerable amount of time and patience. I finally received my full refund after spending around 20 hours on the phone over the course of the last month. The agents either don’t understand you, or they are pretending to not understand you in order to squeeze as much money from customers as possible. I had to provide my accommodation invoices several times since making my claim at the end of July, despite providing them in the original claim. I was only reimbursed less than 1/3 of my net accommodation cost, and was declined the fair payment due to ‘Dual insurance,’ which was a bold-faced lie as I never once asked for any of the partial refund I had received on my Airbnb prior to making the claim. I don’t know how this company is still operating, as they’re clearly making it as difficult as possible for you to claim - no one answers the phone until 1 hour of being on hold, and the line frequently goes silent at the 30 & 60 mins mark, meaning you have to start again. Unfortunately, the best advice I can offer is to just persevere if you can. Reviewed on: 28th September 2022
