Sensible approach to black box (You Drive) policy.

I had a black box (You Drive) policy. My car needed repairs which took several weeks and meant I wasn't driving it. Hastings Direct contacted me asking for information as to why I wasn't submitting any driving data. I was able to explain, forward an email from the garage, and it was fine. I thought the process could have been tricky but the customer service people were helpful and sensible about it. Reviewed on: 20th October 2024

lack of transparency

tried to add a temporary driver for 1 day to our policy and was told that hastings would not do this. upon asking for a reason i was told by the agent that they would not tell her. for lack of transparency on something so simple i am concerned if actually have to make a claim. complaints procedure told me that this was because it was an australian licence. i have personally added temp drivers to a policy before and numerous people iasked the same. all with international licences. not very impressed with the complaints experience even though never expected anything other than the reason. obfuscation and the email received from her glosses over the issue. she gets a 1* Reviewed on: 13th April 2023

Terrible customer service

TERRIBLE COMPANY, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! My car was stolen and found early in February. Hastings has had my car since 10th of Feb, but has still not managed to get it into a garage to fix the damage from the theft. It is now April and I have still not been given a courtesy car. This company has left me carless for nearly two months. I have had to pay for taxis and other transport, and Hastings has not helped towards this in any way or shape. Do not trust this company or any promise they make. I am still waiting two months later for a courtesy car. Reviewed on: 31st March 2023

Stay away from this company

Do not go near this company. I made a legitimate claim for an overseas medical emergency and they have made the process as painful and difficult as possible. They don’t answer emails, phone lines are near impossible to get through on and they have missed every deadline or broken every promise along the way. I’m 4 months into the claim and still without the £2k I’m owed, now with legal action being threatened by the overseas hospital. So upsetting Reviewed on: 25th March 2023

Rip off

In the name of terms and conditions, Hastings began stealing money. While I was able to find insurance for over £200 less, my policy was automatically renewed. While I didn't authorize the withdrawal of funds, customer support said you have signed the terms and conditions, so they are allowed to take the £20 on the system-generated quote. This is their right, and this is how they make money. Please ensure that they cannot renew the policy until they send a letter by post. It's called ripping off and stealing under the name of T&C. I would not recommend them to anyone, and a lot of other customers reported the same. Reviewed on: 14th March 2023

Dishonest crooks

Your customer service stinks. First you autorenew my policy without me knowing it, you make me wait 30 minutes on the line to cancel only to find you won't do it without charging me a penalty. Nobody wants your autorenew - especially when it's 20% higher than last year despite no claims. You also obscure the fact that you add autorenew so the customer has no choice. To add insult to injury you claim to have sent me documents a month before renewal to review when you absolutely didn't. I expected better but you've behaved like dishonest crooks. Cheapest quote ever!

Great company, easy to insure with

I have insured with Hastings for a couple of years now. I first went for them as they were the cheapest, however I have stuck with them as they are very easy to deal with and amend/change policy details, they also gave me a great renewal price, they weren’t the cheapest renewal but worth the extra for being easy to deal with. Not recommend Hasting direct for a car insurance at all please avoid it otherwise you will suffer

Hello I am writing this review just to help others I would not recommend hasting direct for car insurance it is just a waste of money and all you get is suffer the pain at the end so please anyone thinking of doing car insurance with hasting direct just avoid it and look for other company other wise you will regret I had a road accident which wasn’t even my fault and my insurance know that I had accident on the 5th of dec and hasting provide me the hire car on the 24th dec 2023 after 18 days and I used to phoned them like 3 times a day than they provide me the enterprise car after 18days and they promised me they will fix the car it’s almost 2 months since 5th dec 23 and today is 12th feb 23 and they still not fix my car before a week they called me and said your car is fix once I went their with my 5 kids to collect the car it wasn’t even started I have to phoned back so many times to report that it’s not starting I came back home and the following week they phoned again and said it’s fix I went again to collect and it was the same problem car wasn’t even starting I reported it again it was me who was keep calling and getting updates for my car and they wasn’t even bothered to contact me and give me updates when they know it, It was their fault and they are not respond or responsible and feeling guilt they came up with easy solution and told me the fault ur car having is not after accident it was before the accident all they did is a big lie so they can avoid me and my car this was an easy solution for them to say it and they said it even though my car was absolutely fine and I was driving it nothing was wrong with the car after they keeping my car for the fix excuses for almost 2 months at the end they said ur car might have a problem before the accident but I am saying how??? My car was absolutely fine before the accident i didn’t notice anything neither my car gives me any signal of anything wrong on it so how can that be possible please please any one who is thinking to do the insurance with this company I would highly recommend to look for another company this is not worthy you won’t get anything neither your car will be fixed all you will get is the engineer will phone you and will tell you your car had this issue before the accident my review is very honest just to help others this company is not worthy for customers all I think is the positive review you see on the page will be probably their own employee reviews not customers it’s all a lie I suffered a lot as a mum of 5 without a car already suffering and I don’t don’t won’t any other mothers to suffer Reviewed on: 12th February 2023
