I recently applied for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY and was initially approved for £288,000. However, the offer was unexpectedly reduced to £273,000 without a clear explanation. Despite paying a £199 application fee, I have yet to receive a refund, despite multiple attempts to contact customer service. This sudden change caused significant stress and wasted valuable time. I believe the lender's initial assessment was flawed, as the discrepancy of £15,000 is too large to be attributed to a simple error. Additionally, I am disappointed that my bonus was not fully considered in the initial decision-making process. If you are considering applying for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY, I would advise caution. Savings made easy

With no smart 'phone, and unwilling to use on-line banking, it is refreshing to find a company that still uses 'old fashioned' post and telephone for accounts, when access to a branch is inpracticle. Not only was the entire process very simple but the response time from Hinckley & Rugby was an impressive two days from application to pass book. Well done, and thank you! Efficient friendly service

I opened a fix term saver. Even though there is no App with this product every step was simple & efficient and my account was opened in a couple of days. I felt comfortable with the level of security too. The staff at H&R B.S. were so lovely and friendly and happy to answer all of my questions. Reviewed on: 1st December 2023

Hinkley & Rugby 5 Year Fixed Rate ISA

Became aware of Hinkley & Rugby's 5 year 4.9% Fixed Rate ISA via money saving expert website, which you can only open an account in branch or via post. As visiting a branch was not an option, completed application form and posted off with a savings account cheque for £20k. Was a bit apprehensive about the cheque being lost in the post, but received a call from H&R BS two days after posting. To advise they had received my application form and cheque, and to make sure that i understood the product and was happy to proceed. Was very please to receive the initial phone call and following e-mail confirming account had been opened and passbook had been posted out. The service i have received has been excellent and would not hesitate to recommend H&R BS to anyone. Reviewed on: 30th November 2023
