Worst bank by a country mile

Customer service is non existent ! Called for help and advice relating to my mortgage and after being told someone would call back I had to go into a branch 4 days later only to be told they take at least a week to respond to a call back (this from a mortgage advisor in branch no less ! ) Eventually got sick of waiting and tried calling again ....got treated with utter contempt and not an ounce of customer service was shown . Like robots reading from a script. Not once was I able to discuss my reasons for calling after my first call . Then a week later they called me to try and sell me other products !! Unbelievable. Taking my business away as soon as I can ... Reviewed on: 5th September 2016

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

Literally the most infuriating, time-spending, and pointless bank there is about. I had to go with HSBC as I was declined a student account elsewhere, so other than being tied to them, I WOULD BE RUNNING. Going into a branch, it's always an hour wait, with no system in place, nothing is dealt with, and they just LOVE to waste your time. Spending hours on the phone is another thing, to just get told oh sorry you now need to call this number instead. And their student 'amazon voucher perk' is a utter pisstake, because you have do to your piece of work to actually claim it, and that requires taking a good THREE hours out of the day to actually get hold of them to chase it up, to then wait longer to even receive. Literally the worst company, do not care at all for their customers, only what their customers bring in. AVOID AT ALL OPPORTUNITIES. Reviewed on: 1st September 2016

The most unprofessional bank!!! Do not waist your time and money!!!

I'm just shocked with the HSBC service!!! I have applied for a checking account and the account manager Courtney treated me with arrogance like if I am insignificant for the bank. She didn't give any options and just denied my application. They canceled my checking account application because I was out the country for 30 days and couldn't answer their calls. They are holding my check of $10,000 deposit and my application. I had already talked to two different people from the bank prior my overseas trip and they told me that they had all the information necessary to open the account. So, I asked to talk to Courthney's manager Paula (she was laughing with Courtney who was sitting right next to her, "small department" she said), so Paula said she would process the application. I'm mean...seriously, how many people and phone calls do you need in order to open one account??? Please, HSBC be minded that we have busy lives (I'm a nurse practitioner) and I can't be on the phone all the time! That's why I applied ONLINE!!! Reviewed on: 20th July 2016

Refuse to follow instructions

After more than 30 years of trouble free banking I now find myself forced to look elsewhere. 7 months ago we received notification that we were to be 'upgraded' to an Advance account, and a list of the 'benefits' of this. Having reviewed the 'benefits' we concluded that the Advance account did not suit our requirements. I visited the local branch and agreed that this 'upgrade' would not take place. It was upgraded anyway. 2 further visits to the branch finally got it switched back. A month ago, we received notification that the account was to be 'upgraded' again. A further visit to the branch, this time somewhat less friendly, resulted in an assurance that the matter would be dealt with.. This morning the new Advance debit cards arrived......... Goodbye HSBC, not wasting any more time on this matter. Reviewed on: 8th July 2016

Popped in to pay in a cheque and asked ad advosor in the branch for some advice. She was really helpful and advised me about the best way to minimise the risk of fraud and cheapest way to transfer money between accounts and earn some interest while still having instant access should I need it Reviewed on: 29th June 2016

I recently had a small problem with my current account and tried to contact hsbc to resolve this over the phone. I rang three times , was left on hold for 30 minutes each time. left messages for someone to contact me.Three weeks later no one has been in touch. I am now trying to contact them via e-mail but so far have just got automated answers. I think it will be easier to change banks Reviewed on: 28th June 2016

You won't get any huge rates of interest but the service is good and the online banking system is excellent. They seem to keep a close eye on accounts for fraudulent activity and the branch staff are friendly and helpful. Reviewed on: 28th June 2016
