Local branch staff are very good and experienced when it comes to bank products. I do not like internet banking and they seem to understand my concerns and help me with products that do not feature these aspects Reviewed on: 27th January 2016

HSBC is a travesty compared to Midland Bank

2
I had been a customer of Midland Bank for over 25 years when I set up as a self employed Consultant/trainer. I had loaned large amounts of money for the time when I was in a job and before I changed direction, including for cars, household goods, overdrafts, over-exuberance as a student...:) etc. The HSBC brand appeared in the latter years. I approached HSBC for a loan to support my new business marketing and to gain an e-presence. I was declined. I went back to 'employed' work part-time and paid for my website, etc. I continued as self-employed. As I became 'successful, without 'their' money, I was phoned regularly about 'loans', 'credit', 'premier services'. I remind them that I would never borrow a penny after they turned me down in a most important business venture. My profits are held elsewhere! Reviewed on: 26th January 2016

Theft of money from my account

4
I made a small online purchase (a lottery ticket) from a company that once it had my card details went on taking money every week from my account, eventually making me overdrawn and bouncing my direct debits. HSBC were not obliged to refund the money, I think because I had wittingly parted with my card details; but then neither were they obliged to waive £80.00 in overdraft charges, which to my surprise they did. Very helpful staff who go out of their way to help you (Kendal branch).

4
I travel a lot for work and I've often run into problems that HSBC has helped me out with. I once had my debit card stolen and it was difficult to get a replacement while I was abroad. However, the helpful staff at Kendal branch enabled me to get a new card promptly, and they also suggested making my mother a signatory to my account so that she can authorise such processes in the future should a similar situation arise. They really were very helpful! Reviewed on: 2nd January 2016

No problems at all

Never had any problems with HSBC, the Digital Key thing they added in was a mess and have ended up dropping anyway so that has improved this, otherwise they have been fair, now support Apple Pay and couldn't ask for more. Reviewed on: 25th December 2015

Brilliant bank
