Absolutely Horrendous Treatment of a Loyal Customer!

I have been an HSBC customer for several years, with both a mortgage and credit card. I have never missed a payment to HSBC or any lender, and my credit rating is excellent (AAA). Despite this, I am still waiting for a decision on my remortgage application, which is now jeopardising my upcoming house move scheduled for the end of the month. The application was submitted at the start of December, and while I acknowledge my situation is slightly more complex (I recently changed jobs and have a limited company employing my wife), I have provided all requested documents, including employment details, bank statements, and proof of earnings. Some of the requests felt excessive, bordering on an invasion of privacy, but I complied fully. My frustration lies not with the due diligence process, but with the complete lack of communication or progress. Despite countless follow-ups, I am still in the dark, with no decision or timeline in sight. Even a decline would be preferable at this point, as it would allow me to explore other lenders. Instead, I am stuck in limbo, with my property purchase now at serious risk. This treatment of loyal customers is unacceptable, and I would strongly advise anyone considering HSBC for their mortgage needs to think twice. Reviewed on: 14th January 2025

Do NOT use HSBC!

Do NOT use HSBC! I have been trying to access my the money in my account for 2 years! I got the Australian banking watchdog AFCA involved & STILL can´t get my money! They seem to be getting hacked as they keep having the wrong phone number listed for me despite me having to change it. Their website fails half the time too! Reviewed on: 18th May 2024

Impossible to withdraw cash over the counter

If you are thinking of opening an HSBC… If you are thinking of opening an HSBC Advance Bank account or transferring from another bank, I highly recommend changing your decision. If you deposit your money you won’t be able to withdraw it back in cash. I visited two different branches yesterday and today and was declined to withdraw a small amount of cash over the counter. I was asked to provide official documents in order to get my money back. I had to listen an hour of lecture as they are only doing it to protect myself. I'm now considering to close the account after 23 years of having it. But there is also a problem/ they don't have any cash in their vaults to give me. I will also need to book an appointment with the area manager if I decide to close the account. Doesn't HSBC have a reputation as the most non-compliant AML bank in the world? They closed my account without giving me any reason,...

They closed my account without giving me any reason, didn't even give me time to switch my account to other banks. Left me with no money for a few days. Couldn't pay my direct debits which effects my credit score. Worse Bank ever. They are fraudsters not a bank. They think that they are above the law. Reviewed on: 26th April 2024
