HSBC Bank account reviews (1313)

I have been a customer of HSBC for over 20 years now and I have never had a problem with them, they are courteous and helpful and most importantly don't bombard me with offers I don't need.

HSBC have proved that they can have exceptional customer service. Some banks bombard you with offers and phonecalls, but with HSBC I only receive what I want to receive. I have been with them for over 20 years, and find their customer service second to none. I rarely have to ring them but when I do they are polite and helpful. I imagine being with them for another 20 years hopefully! Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

Frustrating

I've been with HSBC for over 15 years, and whilst I used it regularly during the initial stages, starting work meant I actually shopped around for accounts that suited me. Which inevitably meant I stopped using my HSBC account, and eventually my HSBC Credit Card (for one that provided Cashback). After many months of non-usage, my account was downgraded to a Basic Account, and a week later they announced the perks of having a HSBC Advance account - namely the £10 extra interest a month for having an Advance account + paying in £300 lump sum. So I decided to move my banking back to HSBC and upgrade account from Basic to Advance. Though this would be easy, unfortunately it was not. I could upgrade to Current Account, but for Current Account to Advance, they couldn't do it without me having put money into the account for at least two months (even though I had the salary slips to prove that I earn enough to satisfy their thresholds). In short, had to wait an extra two months and just about got the account upgraded to Advance in time to benefit from the perks. A week later, and it would have been goodbye HSBC again. Poor service, not reliable

1
I have banked with HSBC for many years, however due to an error made by staff in my local branch, whereby money to purchase a house was incorrectly transferred, meant a delay on the exchanging of contracts which cost me time and money. Staff should be fully trained in all systems before they are allowed to deal with customer enquiries. Be specific about the kind of transfer you need to make and double check this before the staff member submits the request. Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

good reliable bank

better banks out there for interest rates, but if you want good service you cant beat hsbc Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

Easy to use and friendly

I have been with HSBC for a number of years. I just have a basic bank account, but I find them so easy to deal with. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and I find their online banking to be simple to navigate. Although I don't get a particularly good rate of return, for a day-to-day access account I find HSBC is the easiest to use. Reviewed on: 28th August 2015

Good basic type of account

have always found the branch staff and service to be very good. However if you want a bank account that pays interest then you need to look elsewhere Reviewed on: 28th August 2015

Good rates.

I've used this service for a long time. Good basic rates. Nothing to dislike. Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

No interest but fab customer service.

I have had a basic current account with this company for years. Although their interest is pitiful (well at the moment non existent) at least their customer service is second to none. I once had an issue and phoned them up. After I'd spoken to one of their UK staff they said someone would phone me back and within ten minutes one of the managers was on the phone and had sorted out the problem. I also received a modest amount of compensation. Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

Efficient but faceless

I like HSBC, I find them reliable and secure and provide all I need. However, my big complaint is the reluctance to even let you get to the counters. At our local branch the counters are upstairs and it feels like a spanish inquisition to be allowed up to them. I much prefer to do some things with a person, not just a machine. Other than that, I am very pleased! Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

Terrible Service

1
After signing up for an account aged 16 and staying loyal for nine years, I received a letter through the post explaining they were closing my account due to too many gambling transactions. I barely had any, just the odd bet on the football on a Saturday. I couldn't believe this and it caused major upheavel having to change account and card details absolutely everywhere.
