Uncomfortable and unreasonably bureaucratic

My parents opened an account on my behalf as a child (aged approximately 9), which involved me signing some documents. A decade later, I could not reactivate my inactive account (which they locked me out of because I did not use it regularly enough) as I could not replicate my 9 year-old self's handwriting and, because children do not tend to pay bills, I had no proof of address or identity they would accept. Their waiting areas are often hot, dingy, and uncomfortable as well. I ended up changing banks. Reviewed on: 24th February 2026

I find the account easy to use and the statements are easily accessible via the online account. I would prefer they also be available in the app. Metro Bank is much more flexible compared to other banks like HSBC and their customer service is more friendly and efficient. Their stores are also lovely to sit in compared to other banks I have used, which makes waiting for appointments or help in store more enjoyable (for waiting in a bank, anyway). Metro Bank is also not affiliated with Israel or complicit in the genocide of Palestinians! 10/10 Reviewed on: 24th February 2026

Fast to set up, easy to use, zero issues!

I set up a current account with Metro Bank because I was unable to access my account at another bank due to unnecessary red tape. No one there was willing to help me. Within an hour of walking into my local Metro Bank branch, I had a current account, a savings account, all the information I needed, and a debit card. Everything was clearly explained and the customer service was impeccable. I have been using my account for about 2 years now and have had absolutely zero issues with accessing my account, online or on mobile. The customer service line is always efficient and professional. I have contacted them twice and had a fantastic experience both times. I recently set up a business with my father and, because of my excellent experience with Metro Bank, it was our first choice.
