Review of the John Lewis, Partnership Card:

Please dump Newday for a more reliable supplier

1
I couldn't agree more with the person who reported "New Day are Trashing John Lewis's reputation ". Trying to prepay for a large item is virtually imposible. Getting a credit limit anywhere near the one available with the previous card supplier (HSBC) is impossible and to add insult to injury, today my card is not being accepted, although it is nowhere near the credit limit. I have just tried to look at my transaction history and the site is "currently unavailable".PleaseJOHN LEWIS, PLEASE DUMP THIS USELESS NEWDAY CROWD. Reviewed on: 12th September 2024

What a shambles!!

1
I had a John Lewis credit card for many years with no problems whatsoever. As soon as I had the new one, each time I tried to pay off my account at the end of the month I found my account was blocked. Then I had to contend with the tedious calls to get unblocked, then next time, same thing. After three months of this I cancelled and am now with Halifax. What were the management thinking?? could'nt be worse - a nightmare card issuer

1
Newday agreed to block a scam supplier and refund - then they failed to do so. Complained, and they said - resubmit!! Then they blocked the wrong card (mine rather than my wife's) resulting in huge amount of work to re-enter details of all regular payments - that is, from when the new card arrives. JLP - you really made a big mistake in changing suppliers. Also, get rid of that dreadful phone access menu. Reviewed on: 9th September 2023

Newday credit card much worse than the old JLP card

1
Since JLP changed credit card provider to Newday we have had only problems. We are bombarded with useless e-mails to the extent that you don't always see the important ones. Paying the account has become a nightmare, we always pay off the balance but if anything is incorrect in a long complicated account reference the Newday bank (Santander) just bounces the money back and a few days later you find your account blocked for non payment. This has happened three times now and no, I don't want to pay by DD, I like to check the account first. Thinking of cutting up this card! Reviewed on: 8th September 2023

Is this the worst credit card provider in the world?

1
John Lewis’s decision to save money in switching its card service provision to Newday must rank as one of the worst corporate decisions among a seemingly never-ending litany of the most dreadful self-induced acts of corporate self-destruction. Newday is surely the Fawlty Towers of the financial world, although this constitutes a disservice to John Cleese, while Andrew Sachs’ Manuel was more helpful and customer-friendly than Newday’s telephone assistants. Please, somebody tell me that this is all a John Lewis joke that has misfired, and that we will all eventually return to the comfort blanket of HSBC in its guise as the JLP card service provider. Ps we really should be able to allocate ‘no stars’ as ‘1 star’ suggests that the incompetent Newday is at least getting something right….which it is not! Reviewed on: 2nd September 2023

Not even a one star service

1
Been a loyal JL cardholder for many years. Just tried to renew with NewDay. Application sent me round in circles so I rang their helpline. Only to discover it's defunct and there's no alternative number. Total joke. Reviewed on: 1st September 2023

'NEW DAY FRAUD DEPARTMENT': terrible, terrible service - an absolute joke...

1
Like SO many other John Lewis customers I have been a contented JL credit card-holder for many years, but the day you decided to change management to these New Day people was a very dark day indeed. During their tenure I have had a several dire and inefficient encounters with them over many months - even though I clear the full amount of my expenditure in full each month - and now their Fraud Department has accused me of having authorised a fraudulent item on my statement. My first concern had been to instigate an immediate block on my card, as it was obvious to me that 'someone out there' had scammed my card details and knew how to make it look like I was authorising their use of it. I reported the fraud and expected an immediate block to be put on future use of my card, but then had to chase them a day later before this was done. I know I did not make any purchase from this ‘business-to-business' electrical company* in Montpellier, France, but because I noticed an item on my statement that was not one of mine and asked for it to be investigated I understand my own credit rating may now suffer as a result. * Sonepar is an independent family-owned company with global market leadership in B-to-B distribution of electrical products, solutions and related services. To call themselves a bank is one of the funniest jokes I’ve heard in a while - they are most certainly not worthy of the label. If I had had <any> residual doubts about giving up my JL credit card, 'New Day' have done a marvellous job of disabusing me of any such doubt. App deleted, card snipped in two, Halifax card en route. Can I give a multi-minus star rating? Just so very bad!!!

1
Please John Lewis, find another provider - the move to New Day was such a bad decision. So many, many reasons why this provider is inappropriate for your customer base, but here's a few: - credit card contactless rarely works which is inconvenient - we clear our balance monthly and have no debts whatsoever, but can't get a credit small increase because 2 of us are on the same account to gain more points, and no one will tell us why - their business focuses on lending to lower income customers, which isn't our profile or that of many JL customers I imagine I used the JL credit card for many, many years when HSBC was the provider and it was a really positive experience ... PLEASE rethink your choice of provider JL, before we have to leave your financial services for other, more customer-focused, providers Reviewed on: 27th August 2023

Shockingly Bad

1
I have been a loyal JL cardholder for as long as I can recall. I attempted to switch to NewDay in May and my application has been in limbo since. New Day claims that 'my credit history' needs to expire my application, which is improbable and bizarre. Meanwhile, I am unable to progress my application. John Lewis, what have you done? What a shambles! Reviewed on: 25th August 2023

Rubbish New Day Back office nitwits... what a shame

I think Sir Michael and John Hourican, a level headed Irishman, should know about the internal process of succesful integration of an ancient John Lewis member in NewDay After applying for an increased limit my account got blocked Retired treasurer of one of the world's largest banks, Experian score of 999 and very wealthy indeed ?????
