I had home insurance with them never made any claim in my life.
after water leak and extensive damage to wall, ceiling and wooden floor in kitchen and hallway area and 4 months of communications they only welling to pay a friction of what the actual cost or repair. cost me £7500. they paid £1200.
Please avoid so you won't have my painful experience

Seek alternative insurance from a reputatble company would be my advice. We have been displaced from our home for more than a year now and no works have been conducted on it by Legal & General home insurance. Our property continues to decay and the insurers seem unable to organise a simple refurbishment as they are continually trying to protect their bottom line.

It looks like we shall need to take legal action against them to ensure that our property is restored to its original condition. It is totally unacceptable to be dealt with the way that we have, I would urge anyone to consider an alternative provider.
Regarding the 1 start ranking we gave, this is too much by far, unfortunately its the minimum that you can give!

Can’t get on your policy even though you set up account you can not access your policy when you ring up after break in of shed just after having your van broken in to and loads of tools stolen no you can’t claim . Waste of time having insurance with them agent say you should have bike cover and tool cover separate we’re do you cross line on content as when you insure you tell the your self employed this is just like ppe it’s no good if your self employed but they like taking your money will check all small print next time no renewal with you thank allot

I took out home insurance with Legal & General in January 2017. I received no communication from them until a renewal e-mail arrived in December. When I took the trouble to look through the renewal documents, I noticed they didn't cover my wife's engagement ring, which had been a separately-listed high value item for which I'd paid a premium.

When I called to clarify, they told me they had stopped covering this in June, and had sent me a message to my online account to tell me this.

I received no notification of this message, no letter, no e-mail, and no phone call.

Unless you want to have to log in and check your secure online messages every few months to make sure Legal and General haven't changed your cover without telling you, do not use them for insurance.

I also echo the comments about extremely long wait times to talk to them on the phone.
