Review of the M&S Bank - Marks and Spencer, Credit Card:

Contacting them is near impossible!

Contacting them is near impossible! Their sign in process is too complex. (HSBC based!) App and site are 'Olde-worlde'! Phone contact (eventually) is with Manilla - charming people but no clue about how M&S cards work Reviewed on: 20th November 2024

Good customer service

Really good customer service 24/7 and picked up quickly when my card was cloned Reviewed on: 1st May 2017

Diabolical customer care

My husband has an M & S credit card. He recently asked to add myself as a second card holder. Easy you would think. I have lived in the UK for nearly 50 years. I pay taxes, I work, I am registered to vote, I have had my own bank account for over 38 years. No apparently they can't find me so want written proof. And this nugget was given to us after 5 lengthy phone calls. They talk from a script and promise to get back to you but they never do. There customer service team can have limited English skills which make the whole process even more painful. So no joy with M and S - just left feeling frustrated. At least my bank , Lloyds, managed to complete their own security checks and issue my husband a card within 5 working days - look and learn M & S because you have now lost a customer. THE MOIST HELPFUL AND RELIABLE BANK

5
Whether on line or in store the staff are always very helpful and will always try their best to resolve any quries or issues. Over 30 years of experiences with them so far I have only encounted two not very helpful and pleasant staff. Reviewed on: 12th February 2017

Good extras but make sure you get them!

2
Appealing joining incentive but I had to chase them to get it, and have had to make several customer complaints since regarding the reward incentive vouchers not tracking properly. Be warned, they take the "customer is always wrong" approach and it takes several emails back and forth before they accept you are right! If you're prepared to do that though there are some good bonuses to be had, especially if you shop in M&S regularly. Reviewed on: 7th February 2017

Helpful, supportive and contactable

5
Helped with problems, supportive around concerns, listened and provided options to move forward and resolve issues Reviewed on: 2nd February 2017

Brillant shop

Suffering with a long term disabilty I buy a lot of clothing on line from M&S. They are alwys helpful if I had trouble ordering or returning the goods. The staff are polite and will always do their best to help you. Reviewed on: 1st February 2017

M&S consumer rights protection unprofessional

1
One reason we use credit cards is so that any fraudulent purchases or purchases made and the goods are delivered broken or unfit for use are covered for. Well, certainly not with M&S. They try every conceivable way to come out of their promise to protect consumer rights and make it so cumbersome most of wouldn't have the time to deal with it. Their disputes team can only be reached in India. They take your details and promise to follow it up and that someone will give you a call back within 48 hours but that certainly never happens. Julie Inglis their senior dispute member is a joke I received a luxury high quality garment with broken zips. M&S responded 2 months after I wrote to them, and rather comveniently on 23rd Dec with an absurd answer - by Julie Inglis - and shut the case. I contacted them again and 7 days later am still awaiting a response. Reviewed on: 6th January 2017

Points scheme is great

4
It's great that you get points on your shopping as well as extra treats occasionally Reviewed on: 19th December 2016

Love the rewards

5
The M&S credit card is great because of all the reward points you can get, and vouchers to spend from them! Reviewed on: 15th December 2016

Points have been reduced

3
I use the M&S Mastercard & like other reviewers here, agree that the reduction in benefits only rank it 'just OK'. Reviewed on: 13th December 2016
