If you’re eligible for an overdraft, the first £50 is interest free. The FlexDirect account has to be managed online or over the phone, not at the branch.

Fantastic building society

I have been with Nationwide for many years, on and off, but have only started using them as my main bank account in the past year. I recently upgraded to the FlexDirect account online, and this was very easy to do. The website made it very clear what was happening at every stage and my application was approved almost instantly. The amount of emails from Nationwide regarding my account is just right, and staff are always very friendly and helpful when I have a query in branch. Highly recommended. I have moved banks several times to get the sign up...

I have moved banks several times to get the sign up bonus but I haven't moved from Nationwide because the service is so good and the app does everything I need. Reviewed on: 9th April 2025

Easy to sign up, simple to use, reliable service.

Easy to sign up, simple to use, reliable service, and one of the few financial organisations that still have branches. The perks for opening a new account are very good (onboarding bonus and cashback on spending). The only additional thing that I would like to see from Nationwide is instant transaction notifications in the mobile app, like is available from most other banks offering consumer credit and debit cards. Excellent, personal and online banking service

I have been using Nationwide for years now, and find the FlexDirect account easy to use, the online banking is very accessible with an easy-to-use interface that has excellent security. There are still branches near to where I live, so I am able to speak directly to someone in person, should I need to. Reviewed on: 2nd April 2025

A fairer way to bank!

Nationwide are a great business to bank with. Their status as a building society and the way they share their profits with their customers feels great to be a part of and will certainly keep me as a customer. Good to have cash back and good interest rate for 12...

Good to have cash back and good interest rate for 12 months. Was easy to switch from flex plus to direct account with it being free to use. New card came quickly and could use it straight away with all direct debits changing over automatically. Reviewed on: 18th March 2025
