Take over of concern.

Virgin Money were bought over by Clydesdale Bank in 2018 and felt sometimes rebranding detrimental to original bank having enjoyed excellent relationship over three decades. Online banking app is reasonable also ISA rates fairly competitive though trying to get in touch to chat not so easy. Will be interesting to see what happens now Virgin Money transferring to Nationwide Building Society, with the legal handover expected on April 2, 2026. Not entirely happy given Clydesdale Bank a Scottish bank formed in Glasgow 1838 and reported online sometimes Virgin Money took over Clydesdale Bank additionally hope as a building society customers shall be recognised and respected for their loyal custom and enjoy satisfactory service as was when Clydesdale Bank. Too many branch closures

Despite being a customer for many, many years I cannot remember being asked to come into a branch for a review of how my money is working for me. Also, my branch closed and account transferred to a different branch, this branch also closed. My new branch is some distance away from. I dislike how customers are supposed to just accept branch closures Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

Great every day bank account with no fees and adequate credit interest rates, but downtime on the app and online banking is too frequent to give it a 10. App often doesn't work if on Vodafone but my other bank accounts do at the same location on the same network! Reviewed on: 14th June 2025
