Go elsewhere - not a credit to the Sainsbury brand. Whilst their pricing is competitive, they seem to have almost no one available to answer simple queries. I had an issue confirming NCB's with them and... Read more Reviewed on: 3rd December 2024

Totally rubbish in every way.

My solicitors have been instructed to deal with this useless outfit. Enough said. Reviewed on: 6th June 2022

Dreadful customer service

1
Waited an hour to peak with an advisor who apologised for the long wait, after explaining that I needed to change bank details she asked me to call back in a week. Someone needs to take a serious look at this cowboy outfit, ( no offence to any real cowboys out there) Reviewed on: 6th June 2022

Hopeless customer service

Attracted by a reasonable quote, I have for most times been dismayed by customer services. The app does not always work, though when you phone they pressure you to use the app! Written communications are the worst. I have recently had letters which say documents included, when nothing is in fact included. Then a letter about renewal with ten pages but the initial pages which are supposed to tell me what the cost of renewal will be are not included. Finally a letter telling me there is a problem with my direct debit and I must reply within 7 days or my policy may be terminated but the letter did not arrive until 10 days had passed and in any event I do not pay by direct debit. Then I am told this was a mistake by them, but no apology. What a shambles! Reviewed on: 13th May 2022

Never, ever ,ever ever again.

Had a chip repaired by AutoGlass through Sainsbury's and, after seventeen recorded phone calls it turns out I'm not insured by Sainsbury's at all. Indeed, as this was, what the claims handling company call, a blame claim I'm not even entitled to a courtesy car despite the easy availability being one of their selling points. I'm aware that the car insurance industry has a few shonky practice businesses but really, in all my thirty eight years as a car owner I have never come across such well practiced doubletalk. I've paid for the insurance now so I'll use it for the remainder of the policy but won't ever, ever use them again for any type of insurance policy at all. It really is shameful. Rip off

Policy was on my second car , with 7 months to run . Car broke down , repair costs prohibitive , so scrapped it . Have tried for 2 months to contact them , but web always gave me the runaround , and impossible to get a reply on phone , not really surprised as I have never been able to access my account, only had an email giving me a web ref number and telling me they had taken my premium . When I have finally talked to a real live person it transpires I have to pay £55 to cancel my policy . As the refund value is by a rough calculation £35 they are now asking me to pay £20 to make that up to the cancellation fee of £55 . AS IF ! DO NOT GO HERE . Reviewed on: 11th March 2022

One of the worst customer experiences I have aver had. Avoid if you value good old fashioned service.

I won't waste your time with my long list of frustrations with the poor level of customer service provided by Sainsburys Car Insurance. All I will say is that if their quote is the cheapest its for a reason, they seem to have invested very little in their IT system or staffing level. I have spent literally hours in a queue on their phone system trying to resolve problems ever since we insured our cars and my parents cars with them. Reviewed on: 7th March 2022

Do not use!!!

1
Firstly Sainsbury's car insurance is not an insurance company, they do not insure anything, they use other companies, like Pukka, you cannot talk to them because they use Auxillis and all calls to Sainsbury's go on through to them, Auxillis are a waste of space, we have a claim and Are getting nowhere, do Sainsbury's car insurance does not exist!!!?DO NOT USE Reviewed on: 21st February 2022

Dreadful renewal/customer service.

1
Don't be taken in by a favorable initial quote. I just attempted to renew my motor insurance with Sainsbury's today. Unable to renew on-line (despite the on-hold phone blurb telling me I can!). Utterly impossible to get through to a living person. Attempted three times, holding for about an hour on each occasion). Dreadful; glad I wasn't wanting to make a claim. The actual 'contact us' phone line is only open Mon-Fri, 9.00 - 5.30; what kind of service is that from an insurance company? I've now changed to NFU; more expensive but you get what you pay for.....and it starts with someone answering the phone immediately. My advice is to stay away from Sainsbury's insurance. Different Underwriter

I have had self renewing Sainsbury's Car Insurance for 17b years, and a couple of different cars. I can't use their Online Service, because it does not recognise the web reference I was given all those years ago. When I eventually got through on the phone, their operator said that I would have to contact esure , because they did not have details. My Certificate of Motor Insurance has a Sainsburys letterhead and address, which I pointed out,. Water off a duck's back. I contacted esure, who claimed to have no record of my insurance policy either. Now I'm not even sure I'm insured at all ! Do NOT use Sainsburys Car Insurance, their Customer Service is dreadful and I dread to think what would happen if I attempted to actually make a claim. "Nothing to do with us, Guv" springs to mind. AVOID. Reviewed on: 14th February 2022

Get customers to do the job of employees

1
I took out car insurance based on a cheap quote, I uploaded my no claims letter from my former insurer which clearly stated date of last accident. Then had a letter come through from Sainsburys saying this is insufficient, call Sainsburys or policy may be cancelled. Spent half a lunch hour on the phone to an automated machine, complete waste of my time listening to a machine trying to sell me life insurance as the company is under resourced and trying to get through to an advisor is a job in itself, a complete waste of my time. Would not be looking to renew. Why do sainsburys not have an email address I can use instead of waiting an hour to speak to an advisor about something I have already provided?!
