Review of the Sainsburys Bank, Home Insurance:

Excessive charges compared with competition.

1
Excessive charges compared with competition. 55% increase on last years prices and have not claimed for over 20 years Reviewed on: 27th January 2025

Shockingly bad

1
Expect to spend weeks on the phone trying to resolve simple issues with complaints shelved for months. Calls with agent after agent repeating yourself, conflicting answers, underwriters that appear to have no contact details etc. Avoid like the plague. Reviewed on: 5th October 2023

Avoid at all cost - terrible

Flood in kitchen. Had emergency cover but after 6 hours told to get own plumber - now due to delay early hours of morning. Submitted claim for extensive water damage, but three weeks later no further forward and unable to use kitchen Reviewed on: 10th September 2023

Always find Sainsbury's bank very competitive on price and easy to quote and renew Reviewed on: 25th August 2023

Good Service

5
The T and Cs were well laid out and the contents insurance was good value for money. Sainsburys has good customer service and respond to their customers in a timely manner Reviewed on: 24th August 2023

The best support ever!

Through a clumsy mistake I managed to set fire to my garden shed, which spread to the garden fence, the gable end of my garage and my neighbours summer house. Our claim was dealt with in a sympathetic manner incredibly quickly. Having agreed a settlement figure my wife realised she had missed the VAT. I said to her, well the claim is settled you won't get that, but Sainsburys added the VAT to the claim and paid us the VAT element within a couple of days. I would thoroughly recommend them without reservation. Reviewed on: 24th August 2023

Reward points make it worth it

The doubling of nectar reward points make this worth it if you regularly shop at Sainsburys Reviewed on: 24th August 2023

Cannot get to policy and poor support

1
I cannot see my policy online and cannot add it. Website leads you in circle for support and only method to contact is by phone Mon-Fri only from 9:00am until 5:30. Greta for people who work! Reviewed on: 2nd August 2023

After being insured with no claims over 10 years I fell and spilt paint on my sofa 3 months later i'm still getting the runaround and 15 different phone numbers not resolved I definately wouldnt recommend them Reviewed on: 28th July 2023

excellent customer service

I went with Sainsbury's home insurance a year ago after searching on a comparison site. Their renewal quote for the next year was £37 more than last year so I rang and spoke to an advisor. Within minutes she quoted me a price that is even lower than last year! Great customer service. Reviewed on: 14th July 2023

no problems just hard to get on the phone

writing a review as some reviews are very negative, and i haven’t had a really negative experience with them. i’ve had sainsburys home insurance for years and car insurance here and there, home emergency cover has been great, my boiler broke down in the middle of last winter, they came the day after and fixed same day, arrived when said they would, i always check prices on confused.com when coming up to renewal sainsburys is often cheaper through them so i will cancel my auto renewal when i log into account and buy the same policy but through confused. my policy usually goes up around £25 each year, on confused i would pay around £10 or so more. so a little saving. depends each year. not sure why people had problem trying to cancel it, not had a problem. also have not experienced the prices going up as much as some reviewers have suggested. i do agree that it’s sometimes difficult to get them on the phone, hence not full stars, but you can chat with someone if the bot puts you through, avoid busy times. in general i’ve been a happy customer for years.
