Avoid avoid. Unprofessional management team

Avoid avoid..wrong information and they just drag you. Delay process and very slow and unprofessional. Whole management teams need to be changed. 4 different mortgage amount with 4 different manager in 2 months. They don't even trust each other. Rubbish bank. Took us 2 months and disappointed. At the end we moved to barclays and all process done with less rate interest in only 1 week. Please avoid this bank. I wish I could rate them minus. So stressful and made me mentally ill. Most incompetent, poor customer service, non existent communication

We were trying to reduce our our bills and sell purvhome to move into a much cheaper house to improve our living standard. The would have reduced our overall lending but Santander has been challenging every possible reason thinkable. The points that our equity will pay most of our new home seems to be disregarded and Santander seems to prefer us being tied in the current situation rather than approving the much less risky option for us. Delay after delay, we are at the end of our strength and are still waiting weeks after providing all the requested evidence If this should not work out, Santander will lose a customer of fifteen years and we will never want to have any dealings with them. . Awful - just awful

Buyer of our property received a mortgage offer and then 2 days before completion Santander decided to rescind the offer. They already had all the info - just changed their mind. Who does that?!!!? Utter s1 hte. Reviewed on: 19th July 2021

Stressful and Delayed Mortgage Process!!

Took 7 weeks to complete my mortgage application. It took one week for them to book me an appointment with a Mortgage Advisor. Then it took another 2 weeks as they kept asking for more and more documentation. Each time I would submit a document, it went back in the queue to be reviewed by their validation team. Then my application goes to the Head Office for further checks. This takes another 2 weeks (and every time I called for an update they would say they cannot escalate as they cannot contact the Head Office). Then the Head Office asks for additional documents! I submit the documents immediately and it of course goes back into the queue to be validated. Finally my application goes to the underwriters, I call continuously, speaking to the sales department, my mortgage advisor and then the complaints department, literally pestering them until they progress the application to the next stage - that is to the Mortgage Centre that organise the valuation. The Mortgage Centre only book a valuation for 5 days later, when I call to escalate this, the process to get anything escalated itself takes 15 working hours.. My mortgage offer only comes through 2 days before completion date. Reviewed on: 8th July 2021

Awful!!!

THE worst mortgage lenders I have experienced. Their customer service is non existent and constantly ignore emails and calls. I was warned about using Santander by family and colleagues and I wish I had listened. After almost 7 weeks into the purchase of a house they refused to provide answers in relation to the mortgage offer which resulted in our offer on the property being rejected as the sellers became impatient, understatedly!! If I had the option to give no stars, I would. Will never use their services for anything. Reviewed on: 14th June 2021

FCA should investigate them

Santander are the most incompetent mortgage lender ever. They should have their licence revoked. I will never use them again. Massive delays as they request further information after a 7 working day turnaround. What is the matter with these people. Obviously being run by an exceptionally poor management team. I don't know where to begin from, this bank broke me. Run away from them, do not apply for a mortgage with this bank. Their attitude and professionalism is scandalous! FCA should investigate this bank for not treating customers fairly. Reviewed on: 8th June 2021

Mortgage with the shittest service

If you want free stress which leads to depression that feels like death then sure go ahead with this bank. If there is an international appeal i can make against this bank then please let me know. They took 11 weeks to open my mortgage case. Every 2 weeks they would come back asking for additional document which i immediately provided however after another 8 weeks they rejected my case without a valid reason or should i say something that they should have told me before applying with them. The bank was so slow and wouldnt answer to my broker. The property that i was purchasing its owner was sp generous that they were willing to wait for my mortgage to pass. I felt so bad when i told them that the bank rejected me. I wish it was in my hands and i could do something. I wad helpless. My daughter had her eye surgery recently and the bank wanted translations of every single 6 months statements which was from around 7 different people and she spent 3 full days translating each thing from the statement. Still her hard work didnt pay off. I recommend do not make the biggest mistake of your life by going to this bank if you are planning to start a mortgage application. Terrible service. Total time wasters!!

All information was submitted and deemed complete. Then they asked for one piece of information after another - they obviously have no competent processed in place or they would ask for everything in one go! They have come back 4 times for more information with a 5 day gap each time! We are close to losing our dream house due this poor service. Even my solicitor has said they are the absolute worst bank to deal with and she advises people to avoid them if possible!! Wish I had spoken to her first . Santander have been the only point of stress in our process. Go anywhere else!! Reviewed on: 13th May 2021
