Joke of a bank

7 weeks into our application for a relatively small loan on our mortgage (with a good proportion of equity) and we are still being asked stupid questions and being sent back and forth between the underwriters and info gathering team. We have been to the underwriters 4 times now, every time we need to provide more information we go to the back of the que and have to wait 9 days just for them to review the new information!!!! Cannot escalate a complaint apparently as online applications have no way of doing this. Rude unhelpful staff who sound peeved you dare to call. Sorted our loan out with Nationwide within a couple of days and told santander where to stick it. Certainly wont be remortgaging with them when the time comes and i will be switching my other accounts!!! Reviewed on: 14th November 2021

Wrong evaluation

After having my mortgage amended to another property and approved. Santander after 6 weeks evaluated the previous property instead of the current one im buying. The stress and delays is affecting my mental health. I get pushed from one advisor to another. Nobody takes any ownership. You might think you are getting a good rate trust me it isnt worth it. They do not care about you They do not care about you! Avoid at all costs. I'm being made homeless on Friday due to the amount of time being taken by Santander. I started my house move process in May. Got my final bit to sign from the solicitors in August. Told my landlord i would be out on 22/10/2021. He now has tenants moving in on that date. I have no family or friends to stay with and any money i do have now will now need to be spent on a hotel while all my possessions sit in my van outside. I just called and explained my situation again and got hung up on. I've gone to write this review and did not realise how bad the reviews are for Santander. They are shocking! I feel sick from the worry of being out on the streets. And seeing these reviews scare the life out of me. Sort it out Santander either get more staff or only take on more work when you have enough people to work it. Reviewed on: 20th October 2021

Waste of time and avoid at all costs as they will rip you off

Avoid a mortgage with these people as they will 100% try and rip you off and just because they have nice suits and offices, does not mean they are not utter scam merchants. beware and spend some time looking at alternatives and it will save you "£1000's in the long term Reviewed on: 24th September 2021

Bad service and no one cares

I am trying to get an additional loan on my property and the underwriters are asking silly question one month into the process it still hasn't progressed. Why can't they just call me is could be sorted in miniutes not months. The online portal says they will get back to you with in one day, forget is you won't hear back from them for days if at all. Do not bother with Santander

I am an existing mortgage customer with Santander, switched over from another bank. I regret the decision so much! Currently on the phone still waiting to be connected. The first time I called, it just disconnected after 15 minutes randomly, my second call-in took another 15 minutes for someone to pick up and the person who answered was so abrasive, eventually got through to someone else who was more pleasant to deal with but couldn't help me. Asked to call me back, within 3 days, and as usual no direct line to call my mortgage advisor. Just really bad service, I expect more and cannot wait to change banks. Reviewed on: 3rd September 2021

Awfull customer service

About to move my mortgage from these awfull customer service rude been with them 25 years was OK when Abbey but santander gone from bad to terrible rang to pay my mortgage also wanted to know my exact payment and rate because I cudnt tell them first they refused to speak to me although I had confirmed my name address account nu. Ver date of birth so if they can't tell me my monthly payment or go any further they won't be getting paid this month useless customer service very annoyed yorkshire bank much better and helpfull who my family are with none of this crap with them Reviewed on: 26th August 2021

Avoid avoid. Unprofessional management team

Avoid avoid..wrong information and they just drag you. Delay process and very slow and unprofessional. Whole management teams need to be changed. 4 different mortgage amount with 4 different manager in 2 months. They don't even trust each other. Rubbish bank. Took us 2 months and disappointed. At the end we moved to barclays and all process done with less rate interest in only 1 week. Please avoid this bank. I wish I could rate them minus. So stressful and made me mentally ill. Most incompetent, poor customer service, non existent communication

We were trying to reduce our our bills and sell purvhome to move into a much cheaper house to improve our living standard. The would have reduced our overall lending but Santander has been challenging every possible reason thinkable. The points that our equity will pay most of our new home seems to be disregarded and Santander seems to prefer us being tied in the current situation rather than approving the much less risky option for us. Delay after delay, we are at the end of our strength and are still waiting weeks after providing all the requested evidence If this should not work out, Santander will lose a customer of fifteen years and we will never want to have any dealings with them. . Awful - just awful

Buyer of our property received a mortgage offer and then 2 days before completion Santander decided to rescind the offer. They already had all the info - just changed their mind. Who does that?!!!? Utter s1 hte. Reviewed on: 19th July 2021
