Mortgage done simply

We've had a mortgage with Santander for over 6 years, it has been very competitively priced, fees explained clearly and each end of term we've received new offers in good time to compare with other providers. Circumstances mean we are sticking with Santander on this product but they give us no bad reasons to change either. Very smooth transaction every time. Reviewed on: 7th November 2017

Simple Mortgage Process

I've been with Santander for many years now, I previously would switch lenders after every term but Santander have proved competitive and easy to use so I have stick with them for the last two mortgage terms. Reviewed on: 15th July 2017

Terrible, terrible, terrible

My wife and I used to bank with the then Abbey National. They were great, then Santander took over and the quality of service dropped like a stone. Call centres were moved abroad, we couldn't understand each other. We were able, when with Abbey to take a payment break on our mortgage when I fell ill and lost my job. Not with Santander we couldn't. It was as if they just wanted your money and didn't give a stuff about customers. We decided enough was enough and moved to Alliance and Leicester, things were great again, customer service was top notch, we could get all of the great things we had before. Then disaster struck, Santander took over Alliance and Leicester. We can't move our mortgage at the minute due to a default on 1 missed payment to a different lender. Service is bottom drawer, they don't listen and don't care or understand your requirements. We don't feel like customers we feel like numbers there is no personal customer experience.
