Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

I considered ending it all.....

I was unable to sleep, eat and considered ending everything as I could not cope at all. I had to pluck up courage to call StepChange but once this had been accomplished they made it very easy and everything else just flowed. I was never made to feel like a complete failure and have been able to get my life back on track. I rarely need to speak to customer service but when I do, they are kind, caring and non-judgmental. Changed my life!

StepChange have really changed my life. All of a sudden I found myself I a huge amount of debt and was only managing to make minimum monthly payments. I heard of StepChange on the radio one evening and finally gave them a call. They talked through everything step by step with me and helped me set up a DMP, my circumstances changed various times over my repayment period, and I could easily review my income and outgoings online so that my monthly payments went down / up where I needed it. I’m so grateful for what they have done and am in such a better place now thanks to StepChange. Couldn’t recommend them enough to anyone struggling with debt. Reviewed on: 3rd July 2025
