Worst service I have experienced in a long time. Firstly I was sent away from the store kiosk because the online order rate was better than the store rate - what nonsense was this. Smacked of a wish to collect more customer data to me. Certainly wasted my limited time. I was disgusted on my return from my trip to find that my unused currency would allow Tesco to make a £65 profit from me! Of the "Why you should buy your currency from Tesco" bullet points on the site, the "buy back promise" - a title which doesn't actually tell you anything, explain anything or make you want to look into the promise - is listed last. A placement on the bottom of that list doesn't lead you to think it is a matter of any importance either. Complete con, the fact is Tesco doesn't want to make a big deal about their buy back deal simply because they would lose too much money on it. In addition, Tesco don't even have complete control of their currency service, it is outsourced to Travelex Agency Services Limited. It took FIVE emails before the penny dropped and Customer Services finally addressed my actual complaint, previous replies simply waffled about customer convenience, how the rates "reflects the cost of sourcing the currency" and "endeavouring to ensure the products and services we provide fulfil our customers' needs and expectations". Big Fat Failure there then. I hope they didn't waste to much time when "After receiving your email we escalated the issues raised to the manager of our Harlow bureau" as she was an especially stroppy and lazy "member" of their staff and if they have any expectations from that quarter I wish them good luck with that. Add the complete ineptitude, unhelpfulness and lack of intelligence of the customer service department - that is if you can even find out how to make an enquiry or how to complain on the website - I'm taking my business elsewhere in future. My experience was at the Baldock Tesco. In store exchange rate is noticeably worse than advertised on line rate. Why? Simple profiteering, because they can, and every little rip off helps their profits. Woman at desk was quite snotty. Generally unpleasant experience altogether. Reviewed on: 26th May 2025

Don’t use online service

Ordered holiday money online. Arrived quickly but was just posted through the door, not their problem but needs to be reviewed. My problem is the denomination size of the notes. Why on earth have they sent 100 euro and 50 euro notes, as if I can use those in the local shops. Tried to exchange the large notes for smaller denominations in store but was told they couldn’t do that as it could be money laundering. What a lie. They were shown the receipt that they sent with the money AND what is the difference to when they purchase unspent money. Advised the only thing I could do would be to send it all back and get a refund, not an option as it is too near the holiday now. I am sooooooo mad. It is their crappy website that is at fault for not allowing a choice of notes and their crappy system that won’t allow the store to change the notes either. DO NOT USE . Reviewed on: 15th May 2025

All the USD I had ordered came in series older than...

All the USD I had ordered came in series older than 10 years which is not accepted in my travel destination country, I was trying to ask them to replace with newer bills for which they asked to convert it again into GBP and to newer USD, what a crack heads in customer care, and I loose out another 250 GBP doing it.. never touching Tesco travel money again . LACKING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Went to Skegness Tesco to collect currency, kiosk all lit up but no attendant around or a sign to say when back!! Was told she's on lunch and will be back later! LATER?? Couldn't tell me when! Phoned the helpline to cancel and they had the cheek to want to charge me a £10 cancellation fee, hence they didn't after I argued successfully. The rate isn't even that good with your clubcard, TUI give a higher rate! Reviewed on: 27th February 2025

What a carry on!!

Went to pick up preordered money to find that it had been rounded up to the nearest 100 and the assistant wanted me to pay extra, they tried to make it sound like a good deal by offering the online rate… if I wanted more I’d have ordered more!! Seemed quite annoyed that I said no. Also got asked several questions which just came across as nosey, where am I going? When? How long for? Did I need a money card? And after all that had the cheek to ask for a feedback comment!! Well here’s your comment!! This was in the Glasgow area. Was there for 10 minutes just to collect preordered cash!
