Aegon is bad evrerywhere, from a customer in the Netherlands

1
Aegon is just bad news. They messed up my pension account. I ended up with Aegon via my adviser when I turned my savingsplan [tax rebated] into a pay out scheme. They got the accounts [needed for vaying pay out periods] mixed up, they payed out the wrong ammounts at the wrong tomes. They do not have an email adres one can contact. If you do get thru they refuse to deal with you, they will only deal with agents. At every touch and turn they do not respond or if they do it's in some wierd round about way. They respond to [negative!] reviews via websites within minutes but not to a direct complaint from a customer. No folks, if you are a customer you have my sympathy. If not then take my advice and keep clear of Aegon, they are there for Aegon not for you.... Reviewed on: 27th June 2019

Appalling slow service

I have a monthly income payment from my pension pot paid supposedly each month on the 27th. Have never received it yet on that date. I never know when the money will be paid into my bank account and consequently incur bank charges for their incompetence. My financial advisor is as useful as a chocolate teapot, they show no interest at all. I need to change both to get the service I was initially promised Reviewed on: 29th April 2019

Left hand doesnt know what right is doing

So disorganised it is frightening when they are dealing with other peoples money, everything takes ages. Really considering moving my pot elsewhere. Reviewed on: 24th April 2019

Taking a lump sum

1
My experience with Aegon has been truly awful. Their turnaround time on documents is around 10-14 days they are exceptionally arrogant and incompetent in equal measure. Three months on I am still waiting for my money and being told repeatedly that I am the delay. There is no real communication from them and you just waste hours trying to resolve things. Don’t put your money with them if you ever think you might want it back! Reviewed on: 6th October 2018

Technologically very poor and terrible service

1
I have wasted 5 hours over 2 days this week trying to find and change funds. The funds I wished to transfer to do not appear in the available funds list on the website, despite being being one of aegon own funds and are apparently available, just not online. Baillie Gifford balanced managed Blackrock 50 50 After a telephone call, aegon staff sent me the transfer form, which I can complete manually and either post it, fax it or use the digital customer enquiry service. I'm unable to reply to the email as its a no reply. 1) post takes days and funds change price during that time. 2) who, other than hospitals use a fax these days 3) the digital enquiry service does not work for fund switches, despite it being offered in the email with the pdf form that can't even be completed without the help of a tree to print it out. So, the service that I pay aegon for (£30,000 over the past 20 years in charges alone) is failing badly and aegon is not utilising technology to any customer benefit what so ever. I simply can't make a simple 2 minute transaction on line to transfer funds that don't appear in the available list. The methods suggested are time consuming and the digital enquiry, offered as an option doesn't work. Over the years aegon have earned a small fortune from my pension and the above is a massive kick in the teeth. Do they care about customers at all? It appears not. Shoddy, outdated service that belongs in the 19th century. I have subsequently emailed aegon to raise an official complaint. Having received no acknowledgement, I have today had to call them again to obtain confirmation that my complaint has actually been received. This they did, but said it would take them 5 working days to respond. I will vote with my feet and have already found a new provider who is already operating in the 21st century and where I don't have to waste endless hours for a simple transaction. My advice is to avoid this company. Reviewed on: 3rd August 2018

Argon - Arrogant Customer Service

2
I've had a smallish occupational pension which was invested with Aegon. I recently applied to take it as a lump sum. It was under £30k and I have had no income for the past year yet they taxed me at 40% and 45% on most of it. I paid over 10k tax on 26k. HMRC advise that I should have paid just over £3k. This is supported by Aegons competitors online calculators and by HMRC the latter if who said that Aegon should have asked some basic tax and income figures for the past year which they didn't. I have been promised return call after return call by key staff in both their customer service and complaints department. Which never materialise. They love saying "tomorrow" and when tomorrow comes they say the same again. They have senior managers who effectively hide under their desks and consider themselves far too important to deal with genuine customer concerns. I now have to go through months of correspondence with the tax office to get over £7k back all because Aegon have an arrogant better than you attitude to customer service. They also use the old fashioned 1 week BACs payment system rather than CHAPs to make their payments. Ive experienced no credible customer service management at Aegon Reviewed on: 11th April 2018

My work pension changed providers to Aegon and the difference from our previous provider is huge. Much easier to manage investment options and a great website. The customer service is excellent, too. Reviewed on: 30th January 2018
