I had an extremely disappointing experience with Aegon Retire. I requested a surname update on my account. While every other financial institution I dealt with accepted photocopies of the supporting documents, Aegon insisted on receiving the original documents. I complied and sent the originals, specifically requesting that they be returned to me as soon as possible. Aegon then claimed they could not return the documents because there was "no return address," despite my address being clearly recorded on the account under the updated surname details. At this point, it appears that my original documents may have been lost. Since then, I have made numerous phone calls to customer services. Each time I received different information from different representatives, and despite repeatedly asking, I was not provided with clear contact details for making a formal complaint. The overall experience has been frustrating, stressful, and entirely lacking in professionalism. Based on my experience, I have serious concerns about the level of service customers can expect when dealing with their retirement finances. If you have savings with Aegon, I would strongly consider reviewing your options and comparing them with other financial institutions. Read more Read less
