About this product

Aegon offered a Retiready Pension which was withdrawn for new customers from December 2023. For existing customers, it has a maximum service charge of 0.5% per year.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Aegon Retire. I requested a surname update on my account. While every other financial institution I dealt with accepted photocopies of the supporting documents, Aegon insisted on receiving the original documents. I complied and sent the originals, specifically requesting that they be returned to me as soon as possible. Aegon then claimed they could not return the documents because there was "no return address," despite my address being clearly recorded on the account under the updated surname details. At this point, it appears that my original documents may have been lost. Since then, I have made numerous phone calls to customer services. Each time I received different information from different representatives, and despite repeatedly asking, I was not provided with clear contact details for making a formal complaint. The overall experience has been frustrating, stressful, and entirely lacking in professionalism. Based on my experience, I have serious concerns about the level of service customers can expect when dealing with their retirement finances. If you have savings with Aegon, I would strongly consider reviewing your options and comparing them with other financial institutions. Reviewed on: 9th July 2026

Awful awful experience.

Awful awful experience. My mother has been trying to deal with this company and has been phoning me in tears at both the inefficiency, beaurocratic quagmire, and general gaslighting communication from this company. Do not go near them. She is now obliged to get a solicitor to act for her. It should not be so difficult to access funds that rightly belong to you. It's like she is applying for funding rather than a withdrawal of her own money. Reader, I urge you to avoid this company. Also, I smell a rat. Why don't they want to give her her funds? Terrible customer service

I am sick and tired of bashing my head against the wall, trying to get one of their agents to tell me which company they were, before they became Scottish Equitable. I left the UK in 2002. At the time I had some minor pension products and shares with a number of different companies. Now they want my new contact details. Sure. But first, please tell me: WHO ARE YOU??? Or rather: WHO WERE YOU?? This cannot be so difficult!!! This has been going in for weeks. Reviewed on: 18th June 2026

I did a pension transfer from Aegon to Aviva & Aegon...

I did a pension transfer from Aegon to Aviva & Aegon didn’t send all of the money to Aviva. About 10 months later they said to transfer the rest of it I need to take financial advice again. Which means paying for that advice, but it’s their problem, Reviewed on: 16th April 2026

Deliberately poor customer service; emails - long and useless responses I'm have been trying since January to take out parts of my private pension fund, first year last so easy I wanted to do same for following years, this if starting from zero, now November they still making excuses even though I have provided everything needed. Awful service.

I recently got married and changed my name. When i called them to advise they said I had to send my original marriage certificate to them for them to change my name. When they returned my certificate back to me, they had folded it in half and put it in an A5 envelope instead of A4 damaging my certificate by putting a huge folded crease down the middle. I am absolutely fuming that there was no thought put into returning an original document ina n A4 envelope as sent. I rang to complain and they said it can take up to 8 weeks to get a response. I hsve sent my certificate to a few companies who always returned as sent A4 in a hardback envelope. Im am so disappointed at the lack of care and attention- service is shocking.!
