Poor experience of General Accident by Aviva

I had car insurance through General accident, part of Aviva. When someone pulled out in front of me causing an accident after almost 2 years this ended up being my fault apparently and has affected my insurance for the next 5 years, mainly it would seem because they mis handled the claim (failed to contact independent witnesses or check any details) and failed to communicate with me. My motorhome was damaged whilst in for it's MOT, Aviva are their insurers through their broker. The damage occured in December 2024 and the matter is still going on. They don't accept that I will suffer consequential loss as a result of my vehicle being in the repairers for 2-3 weeks and their engineer has suggested a cash settlement in lieu but their offer won't cover the cost of the repair if I use the repairer we agreed on as the estimate is incomplete. Absolutely abysmal avoid like the plague!

I drive an older car in a rural area and had the misfortune to hit a deer at the end of July. I claimed online and have been passed from pillar to post. I was advised in an email that my car was to be written off which led to the computer cancelling my courtesy car. It was supposed to be 5 working days to be offered a settlement and 14 working days on have heard nothing. I formally complained to Aviva over three weeks ago and not even an acknowledgment. Trusting and good existing customer care

So far I have thankfully never had to claim. However whenever I have needed to ck tact them the customer service has been great. I always get a competitive renewal quote each year and this now my 3rd time of renewing, which is unlike me Reviewed on: 4th September 2024

Young driver premiums.

Easy to apply for however still quite expensive and did not offer any sort of discount or other incentive to join like some other companies. Haven’t actually had to put a claim in (touch wood) so can’t say what they are like on that side but customer service seems fair and straightforward. Reviewed on: 28th August 2024

Had a new policy with them last year, ran like clockwork, ncb checked, sent paperwork as i am a bit old fashioned. Best part their renewal was one of the cheapest I found,so no need to change company, first time ever. You can reach them on the phone too. Reviewed on: 25th August 2024
