Flood damage and arguing with Aviva!

Following a flood from a burst pipe we have extensive damage to the lower floor of our property. Initially Aviva's response was excellent sending emergency responders within hours of us calling them. All of our flooring, skirting boards etc were ripped out and taken away on the same day and drying equipment installed.. What great service i thought but it has gone rapidly downhill since then! We are currently arguing with the loss adjuster on the settlement. We have been told that they have no contractors to do any of the repair work and we need to source our own material and labour. That's OK if Aviva will pay what it is going to cost but they will not. They say our quotes are too high and they can only pay us what they can get the work done for. How can they possibly use that argument when they have admitted they cannot complete any repairs for us. The assessor is rude and argumentative. Of course they could get the work done cheaper & that is because of their buying power, little old me cannot get those sort of discounts. I am not backing down as I am so furious with their attitude and will take it to the Ombusman if needed, DO NOT USE AVIVA FOR AYNY TYPE OF INSURANCE IF THIS IS HOW THEY TRAT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! I have been with Aviva Health insurance for over 15y...

I have been with Aviva Health insurance for over 15years and never claim. Also my Home insurance was transferred by my Barclays insurance after covid. I have been on both insurance for over 15years without claim. I had a problem with my Roof gutter over a year ago. They sent their representative to check. He informed me that it is nothing much than my excess so I should get someone to fixed it. This gutter was blown away last December windy storm and broke my fence and scattered on my neighbour garden. I called out on 17 December, they and followed it up on several occasions. They responded on 30th September. But contacted me on 6th January 2025 that someone will come and survey my house. The person who will visit text me and I text that I am not around and will not be able to access my backyard as I have informed them before 30th December that I will fix it because of the wind and rain not to leak into the house. This guy said leave it with me despite the fact that I told him I was not around. I took the photo as instructed by their staff that I informed that I can't leave my roof naked for so long as they were not responding and uploaded it to them. This guy then called me on the 8th of January 2025 that, he Google my house and could see damage to the gutter over a year ago. I told him that that was when I first called out for over a year ago and your company said it is minor thing so I can fixed it. In short I made a complaint and informed them that this guy said he Google it and did not come to my house. They then sent one of the pictures I uploaded to them after fixing it. I protested but they just brush me aside and snob me. They said I should complain to Osboman ombudsman. I felt tearful and shocked. Is this home insurance. I have thousands of pounds with them for over 15years. They increase my insurance yearly with out claim. That is reaping people off. It is inhumane. Stealing by trick. Fraudsters. I have my decision but please look for a better insurance and insure less.. AVIVA is for CAPITALIST. Reviewed on: 21st January 2025

Will lie and riggle out of paying out where they can.

Untrustworthy. Uncaring. Appalling.

Had a month of hell with Aviva Home Insurance. Their contradictory advice and comments necessitated hours on the phone every single day for over 3 weeks. They will find excuse after excuse to decline your came. The Complaints Dept are as bad as the Claims Dept and refuse to answer your complaints, even when put in writing. They simply do not care about an elderly disabled pensioner, who has a leak in her roof. Everything is put down to wear and tear, no point paying over £800 a year for insurance. Quite frankly the worst treatment ever, by an untrustworthy company. Do not insure with Aviva. It is far too stressful and a waste of money. Reviewed on: 6th November 2024

Disgraceful treatment from Home Claims

We put a claim in for a kitchen roof that leaked owing to the record amount of rainfall in Sept 2024. Originally they agreed there was enough rainfall to call it a 'wet storm' and put the claim to the next stage. They then sent a Surveyor out and on his arrival he said the claim will not be put through, this was before he even inspected the roof. He said there was not enough wind! Then, without permission and asking him not to, he climbed on the roof, and then caused more damage. Then said it was all wear and tear. We were on the phone 18 consecutive work days, for hours and hours each day, to be told different reasons for declining the claim. Over 25 hours of calls. They also admitted no liability for the extra damage caused by someone they sent out. The Managers at Claims failed call backs for over a week and when they eventually did call they denied everything, saying somethings didn't actually happen despite us having witnesses. This is the home of a rece tly widowed, very elderly, vulnerable and disabled person. The Claims Dept showed absolutely no compassion or care whatsoever. After we made an official complaint about it all, the Claims Complaint team almost blamed us for wasting their time! The entire thing was a quite horrific experience, and extremely stressful, day after day. I have to say that Customer Services were very nice, and Mangers in that Dept called it "unacceptable" and "unbelievable". Unfortunately they have no say in the Claims Dept.! Do not insure with this company as they will try anything to decline a claim if it involves any sort of roof leak. We also believe they are untrustworthy Reviewed on: 26th October 2024
