Fairly reliable, but fairly unexceptional

Been with these guys since I was a kid. Their on-line self-serve is....average - fairly unambitious, their interest rates are...average, they send me a reasonable amount of junk mail which goes straight in the junk. No major mistakes in 25 years but they run away like a terrified squirrel if you ask them to intervene in a dispute with a vendor. If they were food they'd be a cheese sandwich. I must say, I know little about every different kind of banking service, but the Lloyds personal banking website is very good fun. It's well signposted and colourful without being garish. The tasteful green boxes and rounded fonts make you feel as if you are in the spa of banking websites - very calming and kind. Lloyds are there for you 24/7 and I can honestly say nearly every adviser I have spoken to, be it on the phone or in branch, has been pleasant, most particularly at the Teddington branch, where on every single occasion I have received wonderful service, always leaving the bank with a smile. Everything has been comprehensively explained, appointments well-run and efforts always made to ensure your needs are met, even an on-whim request for a copy of a bank statement for an interview, was kindly done. I look forward to yet more humanising experiences in the years to come, when the lands of mortgages, bonds and e-investments may beckon! Reviewed on: 20th January 2015

We have been with Lloyds Bank for many years now. The one we deal with is in Madeley, Telford, Shropshire. We have a couple of accounts and isa s. If we have a query about anything (which doesn't happen very often) we ask a member of staff for assistance and nine times out of ten someone is on hand to discuss the problem. If not an appointment is made to suit us. The staff are always friendly yet professional, helpful but not pushy, polite and courteous. We wouldn't even consider moving to another bank. Most of our family and friends are with Lloyds and those that are not we would recommend that they change to Lloyds. The service from Loyds is 'Second to None' !! Reviewed on: 11th January 2015

Wasting time because of misinformation

I called Lloyds to sort out a reference that I needed to open a bank account in Malta. I was told one thing by one customer service agent and then another thing by another customer service agent. This happened twice. Lloyds gave me compensation for phone calls and time wasted but these things shouldnt have happened in the first place. Customer service should know what they are doing. They turned round poor service into a super experience

I had reason to complain about poor service. However as soon as the problem was highlighted the attentiveness was second to none and the issue resolved with good grace and a clear desire to put things right. The best thing? In this day and age we are always seeking to be amazed or at least not disappointed. I have been neither amazed not disappointed by the classic account. While I don't think I will ever wax lyrically about Lloyds the way some customers of First Direct seem to (about First Direct) I am not otherwise disappointed. Reviewed on: 10th October 2014
