Finally found the best business account

I’ve tried several business bank accounts and Mettle are by far the best. Everything is seamless but the game changer is their tie in with a Free Agent which is the best accounting software for a small limited company like mine. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

No communication at all,nobody knows nothing,all payments tryed to made declined,i couldn.t receive payments,i can.t withdraw money,i can.t transfer money,and the problem is stll ungixed,it is the 3rd day fighting with them and asking them to solve it as i am left without any money because of them.Do not even think to do banking with them Reviewed on: 19th January 2024

Unable to pay staff, bills or withdraw money for over a week!

I tried to make a withdrawal at a cash machine, which was declined. When I contacted support it took them 14 days to rectify. I then went on holiday and the issue happened again, leaving me unable to pay staff wages the week before Christmas. I reported this to support and as I speak, the issue has not been fixed after 7 days AND their support responce is "we will notify you once thisnis resolved." I cannot withdraw or transfer my own money! If you need a business account go elsewhere, mettle will kill a small business before its had chance to grow by stangling its cash access. Terrible service, do not protect you against scams and will not honour or refund under the code. Will clutch at straws to not refund you and incredibly unhelpful. Does not have a 24/7 fraud department either ! Reviewed on: 5th September 2023

Terrible Service and no agent to help!!

Terrible to open an account, No Help... the agent do not reply... therefore leaves you stuck for days... no phone communication!!! it is a terrible bank to even think about as there is no help... they simply take your money and provide no services..... i am disgusted with Natwest & Mettle bank. Barclays was better... i recently transfered over from Barclays and now, I am definitely regretting it! poor service, not worth your time or investment!!! Reviewed on: 17th June 2023

Application refused because they dont ask questions correctly to trip you up and offer other accounts

What a shamble of a company run by, well pretty much fools that try and get you to sign for an account that isnt covered by FSCS. I applied in the usual way, met all the vriteria to open a FSCS covered business account, I was asked how much did i take in cash payments, they are very small as most people pay by bank transfer, I gave the advisor the amount and i was declined as he said I would want to deposit cash to which they dont do!, I knew this and never said anything about depositing cash, he came back and said i could accept an FCA account. No thanks. Pretty sad is this is backed by Natwest but the goons cant even ask a question correctly. AVOID Reviewed on: 18th February 2023

Wonderful until a problem

Recovering account is not smooth if one piece of info is forgotten. Despite having fingerprint recognition set, unlike Tandem it can't be recovered by face recognition video. Five star until now. Staff seem to only suggest i hard close. Now I'm stuck waiting for them to open again. Reviewed on: 15th December 2022

Absolutely disgraceful and disgusting experience. Nothing but negative feedback for this bank which is owned by NatWest. Avoid both at all costs. They declined my application but other banks have approved my application always with no issues and I have therefore looked at other banks that I am with. I would not recommend or use these cowboys ever again. Stay clear and do not waste your time and energy. They are liars. Nothing but negative feedback for this bank which is owned by NatWest. Some major "gotchas" that you won't see until you're up and running

I did quite a lot of research prior to opening the account, including speaking directly to someone at Mettle to confirm that I would be able to do everything i could do with my old Barclays account. In practise, this turned out to be very much not true. I'm still not clear on what is causing the problems, despite being a personal investor for many years and pretty finance savvy, but i think it's because they are not actually licensed as a Bank, they just have electronic money processing permissions. So firstly, the card they give you is useless. It looks like a Mastercard, but so far i haven't found anyone that will accept it. That was my first problem, because i pay for various software as a service on a monthly basis, and now have to use my personal credit card and claim back via expenses which makes a lot more admin for me. Secondly, I keep some capital from previous years in a separate business savings account which attracts a higher interest rate (and because you aren't protected if Mettle goes bust, so you really don't want to keep more than a few months' operating capital there at any one time). Having closed my old Barclays account, i went to the savings account provider and asked them to set up the Mettle account as the recipient of funds when i need them. Surprise! They won't do it. Mettle isn't a recognised organisation. So as of now, i have savings in a business savings account which can only be transferred to another account in the business name, but not the Mettle one. So i'm going to have to set up yet another account just to get my savings back. The actual account offering is great, the app works fine, and i'm saving a fair bit because of the free FreeAgent provision. I just wish they'd been more honest about the limitations of the account before I committed. Reviewed on: 31st October 2022
