Review of the Nationwide, Fixed Rate Mortgage:

Great bank, so no surprise the mortgages are good too

5
Been with Nationwide for accounts and savings and enjoyed it. See my bank account review for them. So when it came to getting a mortgage, it was likely to be Nationwide. They were actually the 3rd cheapest option for us, but we still went with them as we both had good experiences with them. The mortgage allows overpayments, a choice of how it's processed, and only takes £500 to trigger (much less than a previous mortgage I had). They also base the overpay limit on the original mortgage value, not the current; allowing you to pay more without hitting a penalty. Reviewed on: 7th September 2024

Poor

First Time buyers- flexaccount with Nationwide for over 15 years. Given a DIP for a fixed rate mortgage. Application declined two weeks later after DIP & no reason given? Surely a DIP shouldn't have been given if they then contradict themselves and then decline the full application?? Reviewed on: 9th February 2021

Great interest

The lowest interest on the market with no product fee, everything done online, no need to visit a branch, very easy application process, application dealt with quickly Reviewed on: 14th August 2020

Reassurance with Nationwide

5
A reliable company with careful lending criteria which provides reassurance in your product (mortgage in my case) being right for you. They have a common sense approach which is very relatable in a sometimes confusing market in my opinion. Reviewed on: 12th July 2020

Easy to update mortgage deal online

5
Our mortgage deal was due to renew at the beginning of lockdown. I can not fault Nationwide’s online service. I was able to choose a new deal using their comparison tool via the banking app and renew there and then. Saved a lot of hassle at a stressful time. Reviewed on: 12th July 2020

slow and lose information

3
House sale almost fell through because Nationwide kept losing paperwork that I sent to them. Took 3 or 4 attempts to send things before they finally got them. I chose nationwide because at the time they were one of the only mortgage providers with whom you could apply online at a good rate. I ended up having to physically go into the bank for them to send my documents Reviewed on: 9th February 2020

Excellent customer service
