from the beginning they didn't take me seriously

1
As a first time buyer I was looking to get a mortgage and some advice. I went into a branch and was told it would be better to go online than speak to someone. After letting them know I would be more comfortable discussing with someone (as I had been offered in other banks) they begrudgingly booked me an appointment. On the day of the appointment I was phoned up and the meeting cancelled and was just told to go online and use a calculator which was not what I wanted at all but after feeling this resistance decided to not bother and go elsewhere. Postponed by mortgage payment automatically

Recently forgot to transfer money into my Nationwide account for my mortgage payment and when Nationwide tried to take it out they reimbursed me it as it went into minus but notified me so I could put the money in. Really helpful and they didn't charge me a penny for the error! Reviewed on: 19th March 2015

Loyalty didn't help me much

Me and my partner have been quite loyal to Nationwide but this hasn't always helped. Trying to apply for a mortgage wasn't an easy process even though they have known us for ages. It's been quite frustrating, and the lack of face to face contact doesn't help what is quiet a complex process Reviewed on: 28th October 2014

Superb product and customer service

Having saved with Nationwide for the previous year or so I finally decided to take the plunge and buy my first home. The process was very straight forward and everything was explained to me clearly - once I'd been to my local branch to go through my options I applied in-branch and subsequently received several calls to update me on progress. Customer service was great throughout and it was a nice touch that they sent me a welcome hamper when I moved into my home. Reviewed on: 1st October 2014
