mortgage approved quickly, but poor communications

I decided to use Nationwide for my first mortgage, and was impressed by how quickly it was approved. The application process was all done online, which I loved, and was simple and clear. However, I found the communications I received while waiting for the approval to be confusing. A number of the emails and texts about he process of the application were very unclear, and I ended up having to phone them for clarification. This made a stressful time even more stressful. Great for insuring more unusual properties

Privilege was the only company the offered me a reasonable quote for my property, which is a Victorian purpose-built maisonette. So far I have found the level of cover and customer service to be good. My only complaint is that they don't make it easy to cancel when your policy comes up for renewal. Decent mortgage company

I had an overall good mortgage experience as a first-time buyer with Nationwide. The approval time was quick and everything was seamless when it came to setting the mortgage up. Their fixed rate deals were among the best on the market at the time, and they will also offer generous mortgage to income ratio if that's what you're looking for. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015
