Terrible customer service and knowledge

Tried to make change before renewal date ie got reduced price and letter to confirm but still took full price! Also I am now retired and charge for that 16.00! Still haven't been refunded difference and no confirmation of job status amendment!!

I do not know where to begin. I owned two properties. both insured for buildings with Post Office. I sold one and needed to cancel the policy. Told I could not cancel. Then told I could cancel but they would need to take a £35 cancellation fee off my card and was that alright. No mention of any refund. Computer systems all over the place. Have rung countless times to try to cancel policy. Was told computer system has a problem and cannot be done. Send emails to manager one reply then silence, heard nothing. Have written to Managing Director. Was told by one operator any refund could not be guaranteed to be backdated to the date of completion of property sale. Dreadful, would never use again.

I purchased the insurance and the very next day realised I had missed something off. I tried to amend this online but got a message saying you can't make any amendments online. Were in 2020 and you can't do things online??? So I call them to ammend and first they say they will charge a £10 ammendment fee and then they quote me a ridiculous amount for what I want to change. So I then choose to cancel and I have to pay £20 fee? Within a day? Disgusting service never use them for anything again.

I had a letter saying that my home insurance policy was due to be automatically renewed but my payment details were out of date. I phoned the centre and they said that they can't do anything as they haven't got the details there themselves yet (but yet, I had a letter?).
With this in mind I took out a new policy. Days later, I saw that they had taken the money for the old policy as well! Long wait on the phone to sort their mistake out.
Also, like with all insurance companies, they will sting you on the renewal price if you don't shop around.

The phone manner of the customer service advisor is great though. The man was clear, happy to explain anything etc. so that's a plus.

Didn’t have any claims then got a renewal letter...gone up 35% for nothing. Log in to the online “self service” (ha!) system and you can’t cancel the renewal. Tried via the online chat. The online chat agent can’t cancel the renewal. I have to phone a separate renewal agent (First Source)...and then spend forever on hold. I would just cancel the direct debit, but they have a separate credit agency who have just told me they will start charging if I don’t sign the paperwork as the renewal is valid...but I can’t get through on the phone because of Covid-19.... Why have a self service website if you can’t do anything? Bunch of jokers. Will never use post office for anything. Shoddy.

7 weeks ago I tried to open new accounts with better rates of interest. I received email confirmation and then nothing. I rang and was told it would take ten days. Nothing happened but I was unable to access my account and therefore my funds. All my phone calls came to nothing. I was left in the hands of the technical department who would contact me within 48 hours. Today finally the customer service representative replaced my log in details ( why the others couldn't do this I have no idea). I have been offered £30 compensation. This was to be paid into my savings account but I am yet to receive it. I am looking into a more reliable company.

Expensive with very limited cover and extortionate fees.

Very basic and low levels of cover for what you pay. Don't believe the hype, they may charge you £50 less than competitors but cover levels are tiny and unsuitable for purpose. Also fees applied to account are just stupid. £30 to arrange the policy, £...

Very basic and low levels of cover for what you pay. Don't believe the hype, they may charge you £50 less than competitors but cover levels are tiny and unsuitable for purpose. Also fees applied to account are just stupid. £30 to arrange the policy, £20 if you miss a payment, £35 to cancel a policy. Plus auto renewal of the policy with very little notice and generally premium goes up and cover levels remain static or decrease. Not recommended at all.

Been with Post Office for 2 years, I have no complains about the service. But last year, I received a letter with a substantial price increase, called to cancel, and they offered me an extremely competitive deal (better than other companies). Same thing happened this year, the policy price DOUBLED, they had a phone number on the leaflet which didn't work. Finally managed to google them and get a hold off them. This time they didn't offer a good deal, so cancelled my policy and switched to another company. These black hat marketing techniques are just plain wrong! And I believe people who are not internet savvy or pay attention to those things would get conned.

Took out a building and contents policy with them in Aug 2018 and immediately cancelled the continuous payment authority on my credit card. Received email from them in July 2019 stating that my policy would automatically be renewed in Aug 2019 with a 30% increase incidentally - no thank you. Was informed by a customer services representative that continuous payment authority and automatic renewal were two different things?????????
Be very careful if dealing with these guys.

I would give zero if I could, be careful you are set to auto-renew and you can't take it off online, if you do it over the phone it may not be done. I believe strongly I had asked this to be done over the phone, they say not, I couldn't remove it so they took the money, my bank did a reversal so I could pay a new insurer, they finally sent a refund, the first within one day I had received threatening letters about it being passed over to the debt collecting agency, I paid them back and sorted in one day later, they have now done a reversal with my bank taking the money again. Spoken to them today and they have no record of having my money, the bank won't put my money back in. No one is in a rush to sort this and refund me my money. I have taken it to the financial ombudsman who are supporting me.

They asked if anything had changed over the year and we said no and wanted to continue the cover but they declined but gave no reason. Very poor service, not to be trusted. I'm not convinced that the year we were covered was actually a good cover? We never claimed but I will stay clear of this company in future.

The Post Office was my Home Contents insurer for one year, but when it came to renewal time, they said that because my home has an asbestos roof, they wouldn't any longer be able to cover me. Since I cannot understand why my roof should impact on contents as opposed to buildings cover, I think they are a very poor insurance company.

This company has recently swapped from AVIVA to Lloyds and their service has become awful! We have called them twice recently. First time they have given our details to a third company that has contacted us more than 5 times to claim some money for the repairing, even though the actual work was fully covered by our policy! Second time the lady at the customer service decided that it was not their responsibility, despite the fact that she admitted that she is not a plumber and she does not have any clue of why that was not covered by the policy. Her ONLY suggestion was to call a plumber, ask for a report, pay for the report and THEN contact them again. Should the report confirm that the issue would have been covered by the insurance, we may obtain a refund. In the meantime we should just wait and deal with the issue on our own.
