Santander employee acting like a fraudster

A person recently phoned me, who claimed to be Santander employee and asked me to state my Date of Birth "to pass security". At that point I had no way of knowing, whether this really was a Santander employee calling me, or a fraudster fishing for my personal information. Guess my surprise, when a few weeks later, I learned that this really was a genuine Santander employee !? I complained to Santander about this practice, but they have the audacity to defend their practice, and do not want to change their security policy. This sets a dangerous precedent. If Santander acts in a way, that customers can not distinguish a genuine Santander employee from a fraudster, this is exactly what the fraudsters want, because it helps them to clear out people's bank accounts. Penny pinching

I have been with Santander for a number of years. Their business bank account was good value as they don't charge a monthly fee - a necessity for small businesses. However, very disappointed that they have stopped awarding monthly interest (now 0%)!! This is the same for their sister company Cahoot. Will likely switch companies now as I don't agree that banks (that make billions every year) can make money off my money and not give out any interest. Reviewed on: 12th February 2016

Surprisingly good

We did a bit of research when looking into setting-up a business account and santander came up as a good choice. Can't say they are exceptional, but we've avoided a lot of the negative points other businesses seem to have encountered. Reviewed on: 12th February 2016

Great Business Banking Support

I most value the support we get from the bank which is used online or over the phone. We chose Santander as they seem to be the only bank who realise what a shambles the high street bank has been making of things. Reviewed on: 20th January 2016

Hellish to set up

Business Banking was hellish to set up. I experienced nothing but problems. The bank literally took months to set up the account with no exaggeration! They kept coming back asking for more documents etc instead of asking for everything upfront at the start. It made things very difficult. However, since the initial nightmare start up, it now seems to be running pretty well. Reviewed on: 20th January 2016

Santander business banking- an absolute gem of an account!

I use Santander business banking and from day 1 to now I have received exceptional service. I was able to set up my account online simply and efficiently which is great for someone who works long hours and cannot get to the branch easily. My online banking and card arrived very quickly also with easy to understand instructions. The online banking tool is amazing- very sleek and easy to use- I would recommend this account and Santander to anyone! Reviewed on: 15th January 2016

Froze our account without notice and are still denying us access to our monies!

Our Digital Currency platform had a Business Acct with Santander. 4 months after launch our account was frozen without warning by Santander, so that we could no longer transact with our customers. The reason given was we are trading in Digital Currency, which is surprising as this is our main business activity and was part of the initial plan the local branch mgmnt approved! Access to funds in our account is still being denied and Santander are providing no answers and have yet to respond to our formal complaint. Our business is in limbo until this is sorted out, i therefore could not recommend Santander to any SME Reviewed on: 2nd December 2014

Average

Santander don't have bank charges which is suitable for a small freelancer. The website is unwieldy, It wouldn't allow me to make transactions. For comparison my nationwide personal account has been problem free, making transaction is simple and easy. Reviewed on: 10th November 2014
