Review of the Tesco Bank, Pet Insurance:

Awful. Avoid.

Awful. Started off great 5 years ago, but all of a sudden they have increases my monthly premiums by over double following a small claim. When I queried this they said it's in the small print they can make changes to the policy at will. As I worked in pet insurance for 18 years I had asked many questions before commencing the policy but apparently the information they gave me 5 years ago no longer stands due to them changing their underwriter - it appears they are at liberty to change anything they wish, including the policy information I signed up to! Good product

Refused to cover massive vet bill

Totally disappointed and angry Tescos refused to cover claiming pets ear infection which has now resulted in ear polyp was preexisting. Truth is they were never going to pay out for anything and now im left with a thousands of pounds vet bill! Reviewed on: 17th January 2023

Disappointed

I was disappointed Tesco Pet Insurance couldn't settle the full amount of my final cost when my cat became extremely ill and finally had to be euthanised. The vets tried very hard with emergency treatment costing around £1000. Tesco only paid the euthanasia fees of under £200. They claimed my cat had shown a change in behaviour before I started the policy back in January 7 months ago. The date they quoted does not even make sense as she was in perfect health then. She did not even visit that vet during that time. I would not be using this insurance company again when I get my new pet. Reviewed on: 4th October 2022

Terrible service and they waste time!

This must be the only company that still writes to other companies for information, clearly one of their many time wasting tactics, totally incompetent. Wish I'd used a different company. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Reviewed on: 26th September 2022

Pet insurance claim

Insurance claim submitted for my dog after his operation to remove a benign lump. Settled within days. Amazing customer service. Reviewed on: 5th September 2022

Good Value and Comprehensive Insurance

Haven't had to use this yet which is good but they've been very easy to set up with and the policy is good. Reviewed on: 15th August 2022

Easy option

Easy to deal with, good communications and justifiable cost increases for my aging pet. Reviewed on: 14th August 2022

Old fashioned processes. First claim rejected, even though condition not pre-existing

Everything slow and paper based. Claims forms filled out by hand and submitted via email, so prehistoric, policy paperwork all paper based and takes weeks to arrive. Claim for one dog’s ear infection refused because they said she had treatment for it before our policy started. Even though that was a completely different issue. Poor. Will be looking for a different insurance company. Reviewed on: 18th June 2022

Disappointed

My dog, had a yeast infection in her ear, the overall cost was £350. She has had three previous infections over her almost six years of age. Tesco, refused to pay, said she had the condition ongoing from 2017! Ear infections are acute, not chronic, and like humans, dogs can get them. Vet wrote a letter, advising, it was a different type of yeast, still refused to pay! I am so disappointed with a Tesco, I expected better. I will not insure my animals with them ever again, nor will I recommend them, I have walked with my feet and no longer shop with them either. Reviewed on: 11th June 2022
