Thanks Tesco for an amazing service.

Tesco pet insurance was there when i needed then. My boy hurt himself and could not but any weight on his front left paw. He needed Xray's which did not show much, so then it was a ct scan which showed the problem and the plan was set. All i had to do was give my Tesco pet insurance details, pay the first £120 and TESCO TOOK CARE OF THE REST. Hassel free, amazing service, kept up to date with the claim, and notified once it had been paid. So i could take care of my boy while Tesco took care of everything else. Inconsistent

They changed underwriter mid-policy, so claims keep getting lost between old and new one, correspondence went astray several times and had to be chased up. Reviewed on: 7th September 2025

Very good service and easy to actually speak to someone which is a rarity in those day and age. The operator was very sympathetic with our situation and very quickly made the relevant adjustments in order to pay put the money due. Very good customer service and fair pricing m. Very impressed by their service

Yes my premiums went up the older my dog went. But no more than any other pet insurance. I opted for a higher excess , knowing I would pay small bills myself, but needing cover for anything that could be serious and expensive. When he was ill I paid the full bill to the vets, I wasn't sure how tm make a claim but I spoke to an actual human being who talked me through the portal. I was convinced they'd find something in the small print so as not to pay what they should. BUT definitely not the case, it was reviewed and refunded exactly right. Sadly my dog has just died, very suddenly. Again I spoke to a real person, think his name was Andy. He was genuinely empathetic , cancelled my policy straight away and even refunded part of this month's premium. Within three days my claim for cremation costs were accepted and a refund is on its way. I've even had a condolence card from them. I've always been suspicious of insurance companies, so many bad things you hear about them that I'm happy to give Tesco's this completely genuine review. Definitely recommend. This is not an easy review to write as for six years we had been satisfied with the premiums and the service received. Unfortunately, as with other recent reviews, Tescos insurance quote for our cat has rocketed. Last year it was £389 and the renewal quote (changing their underwriter from RSA to Pinnacle) from 4 May is £931. In a letter rejecting our complaint they said ”There is no limit to the amount of increase and if you have claimed your premium could more than double”. We did make a claim for just over 25% of the policy limit of £4000 per condition. We had expected an increase in premium but also expected Tesco’s to pay for ongoing medication. THowever, to us the size of the increase is the equivalent of constructive dismissal in employment terms and we have had to reluctantly discontinue the policy. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2025

Tescos changed policy provider from royal and sun alliance to pinnacle and sent a letter saying everything would carry on as usual. The only difference was the premium for my dog was £27.43 in feb then £64.86 in march with the new provider. What a shower of scammers, and how would Tescos put their name to it. A complete disgrace. Avoid Tesco Pet Insurance at All Costs

Tesco Pet Insurance starts at a reasonable rate to entice you, and soon enough the rates will creep at a steep rate. Expect to pay over 10x the original rate withing a few years of having the policy with them. In terms of their customer service, get ready to wait for over an hour for someone to help you with your questions. That is if the call doesn't get disconnected before that. Definitely don’t get their pet insurance.

Definitely don’t get their pet insurance. Just had my renewal through and it’s jumped from £74/month to £140/month for a 5 year old dog with no claims over the last 12months. She’s a small to medium crossbreed so isn’t in the senior age bracket, she’s not been diagnosed with any new conditions over the past 12months and none of our other details have changed. Her premium has jumped from £899 to over £1600! I rang them to ask them to give me the breakdown of how they have calculated such an increase and apparently they don’t do that, it just is what it is. So seems like it’s just a figure plucked out of thin air! Definitely won’t be continuing our policy. Have logged a complaint and will then go to the FOS to see if they can reason that it’s a fair and justified increase. Reviewed on: 1st February 2025
