My Tesco Home Insurance claim

Due to a ceiling being damaged by a water leak in July 2025, the whole ceiling needed to be replaced. I phoned Tesco to make a claim and was asked to get some quotes. I explained that I was still suffering from Long Covid having contracted the virus in August 2022 and felt very daunted at the task. I asked if they had recommended contractors who could do the work. Tesco told me that it might take longer than if I organised it myself but I told them that it would not matter if the room was out of action for a few months. They said they would take care of things. A claims management company contacted me before the end of the week and told me that they were going to be responsible for organising everything. They were true to their word and let me know which workmen were coming and when. All the contractors turned up when they were supposed to and a dedicated member of the claims management team checked progress with me at the end of every week. It was so smooth from start to finish and the room, with new fitted carpet, was completely done by the second week of December. I contacted Tesco to thank them and tell them I was so happy with the whole experience. The bonus was that when my insurance came up for renewal, I was expecting a significant increase as I'd had to claim but it had only gone up by the rate of inflation. Can't fault them! Tesco home insurance what a Joke!!

Returned home from two week holiday to find water damage in lounge ceiling above window. We contacted Tesco insurance and they asked us how do we think its has been caused. We dont know but suggested that due to the heavy rains over the past weeks whilst away there must be a leak in the roof somewhere and it has found its way into that part of the house. Tesco then told us that their reports show no storms in our area in the past 2 weeks and will not be able to process/develop our claim until we can detect where the leak is and go to a leak detection company! Both neighbours have said that it has rained hwavy most days whilst we've been away. Having been a Tesco customer for many years both for house and car insurance and not having to make a claim, we feel really let down and dissapointed with their lack of help and empathy in this matter. Come renewal date we will definitely not be using Tesco. It almost feels like they are getting money under false pretenses puporting to be an insurance company. We are livid and will be warning all our friends to stay away from Tesco. Reviewed on: 24th February 2026

legal scamming , beware

buildings home insurance. even though2 people from tesco one of them a surveyor agreed it was storm damage and the builders that fixed it said it as well . no payout.,non existent customer service .trust me its abysmal legal scamming Reviewed on: 12th May 2025

Automatic renewal Rip Off!

I have just received my automatic renewal notice from Tesco Insurance (31/03/2025) for the next 12months and they are “demanding” a 48% (!) increase in my premium. I have been insured with them for the past four years, always paying my annual premium in full up front and have not made any home insurance claims for well over ten years. No doubt if I am prepared to spend a lot of time contacting one of their representatives and negotiating with them they will offer me a better price, as has happened on every previous renewal ! I have already received comparable home insurance quotes from the various online comparison sites and have been offered prices which are 50% lower than Tesco’s renewal price. So, this year I will on principle renew my cover with an alternative insurer, Reviewed on: 5th April 2025
