Avoid this company will not pay claim

Avoid like the plague. When I had my shar pei puppy was noticed she had mild entropy and was stated by my vet no treatment was needed. After 6 years she had to have eye surgery as she had an eye ulcer and they will not pay the fees for vet surgery to clear this ulcer as it was noted this entropy was recorded in 2016. Even though I have had her insured with Tesco since 2017 after free insurance given with the price of the puppy they are refusing this claim. I shall be insuring her in future somewhere else in future Reviewed on: 22nd February 2022

Absolutely rubbish

Discovered that the £120 Excess I have on my pet insurance is per condition, per year, which effectively means although it is an ongoing condition I need to fund £120 of medication myself, get a few paid for, and then go back into paying the £120 again. About an hour to get through to find this out, followed by being put on hold to cancel, and then being offered a call back. On pressing this option it promptly cut me off. Not a good service, and very loathe to pay, without finding some way of not paying due to clause 10, subclause 195 a, amended version. Avoid. Reviewed on: 15th January 2022

Cannot cancel

Unable to get through to anyone. No phone number easily accessible to cancel policy. Contacted the e-mail given to cancel. Still after months they are stealing money from me. Have now tried to cancel through my bank. Reviewed on: 3rd December 2021

Tesco let insurance are extremely efficient, empathetic and good value for money

Not what you would expect from Tesco

A very poor insurance policy. Very much a case of the detail being hidden in the small print. I have two dogs, yes I have had to make claims in respect of one but I had not appreciated just how much the premium would be increased as a consequence. In addition, the statement that they cover each and every condition up to a set amount does not reflect the fact that the time period for claims is only 12 months from the date of the first claim. Not sure why that is because there must be many situations as mine when your pet doesn't receive all of the required treatment in that period. I have done away with the cover which had reached nearly £100 a month, for one dog which is 2 years old and the second being under 7, with excesses still payable and past conditions not covered. Tesco should look closely at their partners Royal and Sun Alliance because the money paid does not reflect the service provided. Reviewed on: 28th January 2021

100% price increase on renewal

I insure both of my dogs with Tesco Pet Insurance and have never had a claim. Just got my renewal quote and they have double the premiums to £618 a year for absolutely no reason. How do they think people can afford those sort of premiums? Absolute rip-off. I have to go find another insurance company but now with dogs that are older. Tesco gave me the impression that they wouldn't increase the premiums much as the dogs got older but that certainly is not the case. If they had been transparent about this from the start I would never have taken out a policy with them. They are a complete rip-off. Reviewed on: 25th November 2020

Filled form in, and vets filled in then sent it off. Paid my excess and vets paid out within 2 to 3 weeks. Vetphone were ok. Sadly when it came to euthanasia and cremation vets filled in the form and sent it off. I paid in full (knowing wouldn't get back excess fee and paperwork cost) within two weeks they had paid out the full £200 as advertised and stated. Reviewed on: 7th September 2020
