Becareful with Virgin Money

I recently began banking with Virgin Money and deposited $20,000 into a savings account while also opening a transaction account, all within the past month. However, when I attempted to transfer funds to a third-party account, I encountered an issue with the app that prompted me to call Virgin Money. After enduring a 32-minute wait on the phone, I spoke with a representative from an overseas call center who was rather impolite. She informed me that she couldn't assist me at that moment and requested that I call back in 30 minutes. Frustrated, I made another attempt several hours later, but I encountered the same problem and had to endure a 28-minute wait before someone answered my call. Throughout my experience, I've consistently faced difficulties when trying to make payments to individuals or pay bills, as the app repeatedly instructed me to call Virgin Money. Today, my account was unexpectedly blocked, and I was instructed to call Virgin Money again. This time, I endured a lengthy 59-minute wait before finally speaking to an operator named Sarah. To my dismay, she couldn't provide a clear explanation for why my account had been blocked and mentioned that the request had come from head office. I lodged a complaint with her, and in response, she sent me a list of requirements that would take three days to process. This situation has left me in a predicament as my funds are now inaccessible, preventing me from making transfers or payments to anyone. For your own peace of mind, I strongly advise against using Virgin Money. While I have an affinity for the Virgin brand, my experience with their banking services has been nothing short of frustrating. As a result, I am currently in the process of closing my account and transitioning to a different bank. Reviewed on: 2nd October 2023

Do not use this bank.

At least once a year Virgin Money will lock your account without notification. You'll then spend the best part of a few hours calling them. Avoid this dire service and use a different bank, like Starling. Reviewed on: 25th November 2022

Bank treated me with contempt

Terrible bank, staff are highly inexperienced and feel entitled to treat customer accounts with contempt. App is dangerous, constantly blocks payments. Virgin stores are few. If your account gets blocked, forget you ever had any money at Virgin Reviewed on: 19th November 2022

Appalling Service

Completed a form for a chargeback as bought an item online and didn’t receive. Got an email from a customer rep acknowledging received my form asked for additional information waited 7 weeks and not heard a think no replies no update no money. Cannot get my own money

Dreadful Bank. The app blocked my payment. I called customer service and got through after 7 hours. They asked me to take ID to a branch 240 miles away. I couldn’t do it for 3 weeks. Then when I did get there, they froze my account completely. Now I have zero access. Does this bank hate humans? Reviewed on: 11th November 2022

Very bad bank

Virgin staff were extremely rude to me in the local branch. Phone lines for customer service are no better and answered after hours if not cut off. The app routinely blocks payments and then you have to go to branch or call. It takes weeks to resolve. Reviewed on: 9th November 2022

Worst Banking Experience

The app doesn't always work. I have been unable to make payments from my account. The wait times to speak to anyone has never been any less than 40 minutes. The last call I have just had, has left me in tears, I feel so frustrated and patronised. I am currently completely locked out of my business banking, going round in circles with new passwords, after the system is telling me what I have entered is similar to my last, when it simply isn't.
