Review of the Admiral, Travel Insurance:

worst company insurance not worth the paper its written on

1
Missed our flight and lost our car hire vehicle enlightenment, but Admiral would not pay out under missed international departure stating that we were not covered for the airport delays that lead to us missing our flight, so when your down, stressed and upset they put the boot in. senseless and uncaring approach

I had taken out gadget cover for a trip and lost a set of headphones. After waiting over a month I have had my claim declined because I hadn’t reported the loss to police. I’m not sure why anyone would report losing some headphones to the police. I made the claim whilst I was still within my insured period but nonetheless admiral say they cannot go against the fact I need a report filed within 24 hours, even despite being on a road trip in a country I didn’t have phone signal in. Senseless, thoughtless and careless approach to people. People take out insurance for protection and safety and this company will sidestep all they can to avoid their responsibility to the customer. delays less than 12 hours not covered

Outbound and inbound delays. No claim as neither more than 12 hours. Ok should have read the small print but for the price of a small holiday don't feel I was covered for delays that affected my health condition, all declared. Reviewed on: 21st January 2025

Admiral is scam !!!

I bought travel insurance from Admiral, it covered Russia and the countries I visited. I felt bad in Turkey, the same day I went to Russia and it turned out that I had Covid. the admiral rejected the claim because FCDO has advised against all travel to Russia. moreover, I had to shorten my trip and come back when I recovered, all tickets were lost... they are a very fake company, if you want to be cheated, get insurance with ADMiRAL. It's not my fault that I got sick and lost a lot of money, that's what insurance is for in such cases. I feel discriminated against Isn't professional Reviewed on: 10th December 2024

Initially I was worried due to other reviews. I lost my phone in Majorca. I put a claim in and submitted around 10 pictures of evidence. Police report etc. after 8 days I received a call informing me that would would pay the full amount minus 10 percent because the phone was older. I could not be happier with the service. Thanks admiral Reviewed on: 6th November 2024

Policy covers nothing in effect

I thought that my buying insurance from a well known company that I would be covered. Wrong! My flight was cancelled and with no available flight for three days my travel company transferred my holiday to next year. As I was not aware that the flight was cancelled until I arrived at Gatwick airport Easyjet reimbursed a percentage of my travel home costs. I attempted to claim my travels costs for the journey to Gatwick airport from my travel insurance (which stated it covered travel expenses. First Admiral said that they would not pay out as Easyjet had sent an email informing me that the flight was cancelled. When I replied that the email was sent AFTER I had left home, and was well on my journey, and that even if we had turned around that I would still have had to pay the taxi driver - they replied that taxi fares are not covered by the policy! Admiral travel insurance are AWFUL!!!

Whilst on holiday with my son and daughter, I was seriously injured when a skier collided with me, (his fault), on 14/03/2024. After being rescued by the ski patrol I was assessed at the medical centre at La Plagne who then sent me to Borg Saint Maurice hospital for brain and MRI scans. They discovered that I had internal bleeding so I was immediately flown, by helicopter, to CHU Hospital Grenoble to fix my broken spleen. After the operation I spent three days in intensive care and another sixteen days in hospital before being released on 02/04/2024. The French hospitals were superb and the treatment I received was first class. My son an daughter were very concerned for my welfare so they immediately left the resort and relocated to Grenoble. Once I left intensive care they returned home. It is only now, over six months later and many prompts from me, that Admiral are finally settling outstanding medical fees owed to the French hospitals. I was also asked by Admiral to provide proof I was actually in hospital at Grenoble from 14/03/2024 to 02/04/2024! Concerning my claim for expenses, for six months my daughter and I have endeavoured to supply Admiral with all the relevant information they require. However, their Portal is difficult to use and I found it impossible to add any files or documents to it. I was shocked to discover that Admiral claims DO NOT read any incoming emails. I had to telephone them and specifically describe the email then ask them to 'download and read it'! So far Admiral Insurance have had valid invoices and receipts for travel, accomodation and medical costs sent to them. But this is not enough, they are now demanding copies of bank and credit card statements showing the actual payment of every item being claimed, along with the circumstances behind each and every claim. This includes bank statements showing cash withdrawals for when cash was paid for taxi hire, buses etc! My son and daughter have been 'out of pocket' for hundreds of pounds for over six months now. Despite hours on the telephone with Admiral Insurance there is still no sign of any settlement forthcoming. The Admiral complaints procedure is ineffective, inefficient and unsatisfactory and they can take up to eight weeks to reach any conclusion. (I will continue with my complaint via the Financial Ombudsman). After six months of dealing with Admiral Insurance, their apparent reluctance to settle my claim and their insistance on ridiculous ammounts of evidence is causing me increasing levels of stress, worry and frustration. It is certainly not helping with my recovery. I expected far better from what I thought was a reputable company. Date of experience: 14 March 2024 Reviewed on: 20th September 2024
