AVOID - they randomly block cards with no warning

Recently at a family meal I used my ASDA credit card to pay. It declined ?? Luckily I had another card on my. 2 days later, in ASDA store my card was again declined. I contacted ASDA Card and was advised my account was being reviewed but they would not say why. I had sufficient funds, I always pay my card balance before the due date. Apparently I should have received a message to say my card was being blocked. I didn't reeive any such message. When I have asked how long it will be before my card will work again the best they can say is it will take up to 30 days. Since then I have had 2 important very subscriptions also decline. It's embarrassing and the answers I am getting leave a lot to be desired. Poor customer service. I've been happy with my card for the past 5 years. I won't be using it again and will cancel it once I see what this review was all about, if I ever get to the bottom of it. Reviewed on: 19th February 2025

Hopeless

Ive only just received my asda cash back card,havent been able to access the app at all,keep on reporting it,cant use it online for purchases,will attempt a call but not hopeful,if not will write in settle bill and discard card,so far a waste of time.not reliable Reviewed on: 2nd November 2022

Account review 48 hours to 30 days!!

I recently took out a Asda credit card, cleared my balance at the end of each month when the statement came in. Never late always paid weeks before the due date. Suddenly my account has gone in to review. Fair enough I thought and after a week I questioned it through live chat as still couldn’t use my card!! In which I was told the review could take from 48 hours to 30 days!!!! Tried to get answers through live chat NOTHING!! No one could answer my questions, so I’ve managed to find a phone number today! Won’t talk to as my account is in review they can tell me anything about my account as it’s in review. I’ve just lost the will to live!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! Reviewed on: 24th October 2022

Frustratingly awful

As per some of the other reviews here, I'm considering an ASDA card as I shop with them every week and a bit of cashback, however small, is better than nothing. I've followed the links to "check eligibility and apply" but the website freezes after I create a 5-digit pin and the application, or eligibility check, stops there. This isn't a new thing; I've been trying for around two months, but the same brick wall exists. You'd think they'd notice really, wouldn't you? Ho hum Reviewed on: 19th October 2022

There's no one to talk to

I'm thinking about applying for the Asda credit card now that my John Lewis card is ending. I did the eligibility check and was provisionally offered an interest rate of 10 per cent more than I'm paying now and a credit limit that would barely cover one shopping trolley. The only way you can speak to Asda is through live chat on the card app but you can only get the app once you've got the card. There is no one to speak to or email. Reviewed on: 3rd October 2022

Their app is useless.

The app does not work. I've tried talking to them, and all I'm getting is talk and no action. Without a working app it's no better than a charge card. If I hear nothing more over the next few days it's off to the Ombudsman. A shame to see a respected name like Asda using such a shonky platform. Reviewed on: 27th September 2022
