Review of the Domestic and General, Warranty:

If I could give no stars I would

Honestly, I have never experienced such a poorly run establishment and we currently have a Tory government. I raised a claim in March 2023 and today is the 12th April. I still have not received my replacement device. The excuses are hilarious from "we haven't taken your direct debit" to "there's a bank holiday so there will be a delay". To counter these points, I had to call them to take the direct debit. They claim this process takes 10 working days so I waited patiently however, on the day I looked at my account and no money was taken. I called up to tell them but they claimed they have taken it successfully. Then I was spoken to in a condescending manner where I was told I will need to wait another 10 days for this payment to be processed. The reality was, they didn't take the payment until post 5pm which is off for any DD. To make matters worse, I was told once the DD was taken the claim would be processed automatically since it had already been approved and gone through the proper channels. This wasn't the case. It took around 30 calls (literally) and over 12 hours on the phone to even get an appropriate response. I still don't have my phone and yet again I am given other excuses. You wouldn't wait if my DD failed so why should I wait two weeks for the level of service to even be acceptable. To make matters worse, the staff are rude and have no idea what they are talking about at any given time. It's quite comical when I reflect now. To make matters worse I emailed their claims team in March 2023, and I still don't have a reply or acknowledgement. They don't make you aware of any progress of your claim you have to call and chase for that to. Honestly shambolic excuse for a company and if I had the choice of bringing back Boris Johnson and having a policy with these clowns I would pick Boris. If you do get a response, it's canned emails which mean nothing and you get passed around department to department since there is no accountability whatsoever. Reviewed on: 12th April 2023

Peace of Mind Cover

People always wonder whether domestic appliance insurance is worthwhile. Domestic and General are the main players in this market. In my opinion, as someone on an average income with very little 'wiggle room' in my finances, this cover is worth it's weight in gold. I would have needed to replace my washer four times over in the last three years without it. The engineer is sent out quickly and the problem is fixed quickly. My premiums are reasonable and it gives me peace of mind that an appliance so critical to normal family life is covered without me having to find hundreds of pounds without warning for call out and repairs. True, your appliance may never break down but, for a couple of pounds a month, I personally believe the peace of mind is worth it. Domestic and General are easy to contact, friendly and efficient. I highly recommend them. Reviewed on: 11th July 2019

Simple, fast and hassle free

Using D&G was a simple process. All of the forms and information were simple and quick to follow out. Communication from the company has been prompt and friendly, and I have had no isssue whatsoever. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a decent and professional service. Reviewed on: 30th May 2017

Not Great!

I've had warranties with D&G for a few of my appliances and I pay monthly via Direct Debit. However, my DD failed twice and I only found out when I had a letter demanding the full price of £270-odd. I had no correspondence before this. Has I known after the first DD failed, I would have rectified this. It also takes ages for anyone to answer emails or messages. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Always go direct

I had quote from curry's where I bought washing machine but don't rate their service . then had quote from Zanussi (who use Domestic and general) at £5.40 a month. I went direct to Domestic & General website and covered both washing machine and tumble dryer for that money. Reviewed on: 13th September 2016
