Extremely untrustworthy

Do not even apply for a mortgage with these extremely unprofessional individuals. Initially I was told that they would lend me £125,000 for the mortgage and gave an AIP. Next they said they'd only loan me £99,000 because I spent £3000 to book a holiday on my credit card (which is what sound minded people do for insurance). Next day they told me that they could loan me somewhere between £119,000 and £135,000 with the full and same details i gave them again. Two days later, after sending my application to an underwriter, they saidnthey could only lend me £113,000 and specifically stated that this as because I had booked my holiday in my credit card DESPITE me paying it off days later. Utterly vile individuals. How is that junk bank still in operation. Managed by idiots. Reviewed on: 14th September 2023

I took out my original mortgage with Halifax and they were amazing for the period of the fixed term and then we went onto a variable rate…ugh crippled. And I left this for so long because I didn’t want to call (silly anxiety) eventually I did and honest to god it was the easiest longest phone call I have ever made and I came away better off than I was before! I kick myself for leaving it so long but hey ho maybe I wouldn’t have gotten such a good deal had I done it sooner, silver linings and all that! The woman I spoke to there was amazing and so friendly, I left feedback at the time but honestly I’d recommend them based on their customer service alone. Reviewed on: 11th April 2023

Easy to renew mortgage

Our fixed rate was coming to an end in December, but I was able to obtain a competitive rate 3 months early through the Halifax app which beat what my broker was able to find from a whole of market search. Never had a problem with customer service, overpayments easy to start and stop as needed. Reviewed on: 11th April 2023

Easy Mortgage

Fantastic

My mortgage payments were due to go up but Halifax online services found me a 3 year fixed rate that was cheaper than what I am currently paying. It was all signed and agreed online and only took a few minutes. Fantastic service! Reviewed on: 5th April 2023

Best rates in the market

Not much to say, when looking for a mortgage, they always had the best rates in the market. The app is comprehensible and you can manage everything there. No need to have a bank account with them. Reviewed on: 5th April 2023

Good but not clear how to enter mortgage draw

As part of the mortgage, you get entered into a prize draw to have your mortgage paid off if you also have a current account. This is why i switched to the current account and it seemed that entry into the prize draw was automatic as there were never any instructions to advise otherwise. The marketing email made it seems like it was automatic once i opened a current account. A few months down the line, i get a marketing email telling me I have to manually register for the draw in the app and therefore I’d missed a a few months of being entered. They should have given these instructions as soon as I l opened my current account as I opened it due to the incentives halifax offered, one of which was the prize draw. Reviewed on: 4th April 2023
