Good but not clear how to enter mortgage draw

3
As part of the mortgage, you get entered into a prize draw to have your mortgage paid off if you also have a current account. This is why i switched to the current account and it seemed that entry into the prize draw was automatic as there were never any instructions to advise otherwise. The marketing email made it seems like it was automatic once i opened a current account. A few months down the line, i get a marketing email telling me I have to manually register for the draw in the app and therefore I’d missed a a few months of being entered. They should have given these instructions as soon as I l opened my current account as I opened it due to the incentives halifax offered, one of which was the prize draw. Reviewed on: 4th April 2023

Halifax mortgages

4
At the time of application, Halifax had the best interest rate for a 5 year mortgage. If, when it comes time to renew, they are still the cheapest, I’d happily stay with them. I can easily track my mortgage and pay into it early if I’d like to. Reviewed on: 30th March 2023

Useless

1
Halifax mortgages are absolutely useless. I have been waiting a month for statements to be posted and they refuse to email them to me. I remortgaged with them and due to a number of issues at their end I got about 25 letters advising me of different payment amounts and dates. I called to see what was going on and was given different stories each time. They didn't take the payment out when they should have (the money was in the account) and then sent me letters telling me I missed payments but it was all down to Halifax Reviewed on: 27th March 2023

Good bank with good rates

3
We managed to get a good mortgage deal through Halifax, even though the interest rates at the moment are absolutely terrible. However, we had to get it through a mortgage broker. The mortgage advisor from the bank would offer us 6.79% fixed rate for 2 years, while through our mortgage broker we got the same product for 4.81%. Same product, same bank, but we had to pay £600 fees to our mortgage broker to get the deal. Reviewed on: 10th March 2023

Simple and doable

As a first time buyer our experience was simple and doable. Every step was clearly explained to us! We also have a joint account and the app is great. Reviewed on: 9th March 2023
