With the current situation banks have reduced lending And Arne asking for a 15% deposit, even though the Government has tried to help the housing market by stamp duty break. Most banks will provide existing customers along with first time buyers a mortgage with a 10% deposit. So if you are with the halifax as an existing mortgage customer and you took out a mortgage 2 years ago with a 5 year fixed rate and you want to move. A mortgage of £300000 would mean you would be ok with £30000 deposit. Beau asked of their greed they now want £45,000 deposit and if you have not got the additional £15,000 you can not port your mortgage so to move home you have no choice but to find another lender and pay a penalty for not staying with the Halifax. So either find another £15,000 before the stamp duty dead line in March or pay the Halifax over £5000 to be able to move now.. Won’t allow you to port your mortgage and penalise you fir trying to leave.

Halifax are not providing a service. I am in a vulnerable situation, i have let you know and yet it makes no difference to your service. You are impossible to contact and everyone i speak to has a different update, not sure your staff are working in the correct departments. This poor service has been ongoing since March.

I was sold a '5 year fixed' deal, which wasn't - I am being charged thousands to 'early exit' even thought we've been here and never missed a payment for over 5 years.

Their systems are archaic - I spent multiple hours on the phone and in branch as they couldn't bring my personal and mortgage accounts under the same umbrella, meaning I was locked out of viewing and managing my mortgage for weeks. They gave me around £100 for this, but it took about a day to sort and 3 weeks to implement. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I've had a nightmare experience with Halifax. I had a valuation done on a property, which you have to pay £200 for, other lenders do it for free. The valuation report was never signed off, which means we couldn't get the mortgage. It took 3 months of going back-and-forth, trying to satisfy their valuation company with the documents they needed. Every single one was rejected and the same scripted speech was given as a response each time. It was like being in an episode of Little Britain, "Computer says nooo!". The concern was around cladding, on a concrete building. They couldn't tell us where the cladding was, just wanted the developer to say it was safe. They rejected the letter saying it was safe, which was signed off by someone with the qualifications listed in their requirements of the letter. That was the last straw, it was impossible to get this mortgage, so I went with another lender and got the mortgage almost instantly. They robbed me of £200 and are refusing to refund it. They told me to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service and escalate it further if I wanted to. They don't care about you, they just don't care. They don't care about having you run around in circles trying to please them. They offer nothing but scripted spiel and cannot, simply, deviate from that script and tell you exactly what was wrong with what you gave them, when you feel like you have satisfied that scripted spiel. Mindless drones!!!!

Never go with halifax. They have a new policy of not wanting existing customers to stay with them. the mortgage rates they offer existing customers are the same as the standard variable rate. I presume this is to cover them from having to give existing customers the deals regardless of affordability. compare this to other companies that offer the same deals to new and existing. not what you would expect from reputable name which halifax clearly isnt any more. bye bye. you wont see my money again.

We have reached the end of our fixed deal with the Halifax and looked for another fixed deal product with the Halifax, however their rates are just not even close to other high street banks so although we love the service and the ease of setting up the mortgage, we will have to find another mortgage provider when our deal finishes.

The Halifax mortgage advisor kept a crucial detail from us, when we found out about it, a couple of days after completion, we called to tell Halifax we would like to remortgage with another bank, however, we were told the cooling-off period starts from the offer acceptance and not from completion and if we go ahead we would have to pay the early exit fees.

Don't Grow Old with Halifax

Been a loyal mortgagee of Halifax for more than 10 years. My deal is coming to an end, so contacted them for a NEW DEAL - THEY SAID NO. Their deals last 2 years 3 months - my O/S mortgage is 2 years 2 months. They didn't offer a new mortgage for a further month - JUST SAID NO! So loyalty counts for nothing with Halifax, nor does being old as they refused to extend my mortgage (I am coming 65).

The person who I spoke with did make a further comment regarding my outstanding mortgage and I quote "WE WOULD PREFER IT IF YOU REPAID YOUR MORTGAGE NOW RATHER THAN WAIT 2 YEARS" - Nice to be appreciated by a friendly, caring bank - NOT

So a word of warning to everybody out there, that's getting old - Don't grow old with Halifax

I dont usually write reviews but Halifax have really screwed us over. We were due to complete our house today and move in but last minute Halifax said they did not receive our solicitors letter. This was at 9am and followed by 4 hours of calls and 2 hours of being on hold only to find out that it was actually too late for them to send a confirmation email on a Friday. Now we have no home and nowhere to live until Tuesday. This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Do not get your mortgage with Halifax, go anywhere else. The staff are really inefficient and really unhelpful and you will spend hours trying to get hold of someone on the phone only realise it was a total waste of time.

Beware of Binary options scam I initially invested a total sum of $75,000 over a period of 18 weeks in Wisebanc. My bonus/profit was $150,000, every attempt to make withdrawal failed and I was instructed to make another deposit of $15,000 before I can make withdrawals which I did. Up till now I'm still unable to make withdrawals and all attempt to contact broker has failed. This is very pathetic and I advise everyone to be mindful of Brokers they trade with. I did a due diligence test before investing with them but guess what I ended up getting burned. This is to create awareness, not everybody can be as lucky as I was. I'm saying this because I was able to recover my funds through the help of INTERNATIONAL RECOVERY AGENCY(IRA) David markson .Thanks to David he’s a private investigator and wealth recovery expert...you can email him on DAVIDMARKSON4430@GMAIL.COM for more inquiries. He will guide you on steps to take and get back all you have lost. Am very happy to share this because i love seeing someone smiling again.
Good Luck
