False advertising

I have been a customer of MBNA for twenty odd years and I would say they have been really good but I am shocked by my recent experiences. Every month I use the card and pay off the balance so I pay no interest. Last month I decided to use it for a money transfer of £5000 plus a fee of £250. When I got my bill through it said I had the money transfer for 0% so I paid off the balance leaving £5000. My next statement said I owed interest … I rang them up and they said that because I have used the money transfer offer I now pay interest on all my purchases as soon as I pay for anything. I just don’t get it. I have now lost my grace period you usually have before you accumulate interest. I have complained and they don’t seem to understand my confusion… there is no mention of this anywhere on their app. They are saying that they will cancel my interest for the next two months if I don’t escalate my complaint - I am ringing them up again today to try to understand if I pay off everything apart from the £5000 and don’t use it for purchases during this promotional time will I still have to pay interest! If so what was the point of doing this money transfer. I am afraid once this is sorted out I am leaving MBNA and I am contacting ASA because this is completely false advertising with no transparency. Gave me a credit line of £4900, and then cancelled after an year citing that i haven't used the card. Rang them to explain that i was abroad, so couldn't use the card . But they closed the account themselves, and the lady on call was really really rude. Reviewed on: 14th April 2025

Very Unprofessional

Even after closing the account and clearing all balance (received the closing account letter as well)these smart thieves send me interest amount separately to pay with subheading it has accumulation interest. Reviewed on: 5th March 2025

Unreliable card for 2nd card holder

As a second card holder, my card is always being declined 'just in case of fraud'. I am appreciative of fraud prevention, but I cannot tell you how many times I've been left high and dry in a shop, and they will only deal with the primary cardholder to sort these matters. I haven't used my personal card for months now and just have my husband's card on my Apple Pay - but it leaves me without a physical card. Also, adding the card to Apple Pay, requires a phone call, rather than just confirmation within the app (which in today's day and age, with everyone being so busy, is a ball ache!). Confusing & infuriating application process, nightmare.

Went through the application process for 0% balance transfer; total nightmare! Difficult to understand the questions regarding options concerning "minimum payment" versus "fixed" DD monthly payment which you select. No guidance. No explanation. I'm a bit of a numpty at this sort of thing and got incredibly confused. I just want a 0% interest CC where it's all worked out for me exactly how much I have to pay back per month to pay the amount back - plus the transfer fee - during the duration of the card. It shouldn't have been that hard for that information to be provided! And you can't ring MBNA to speak to a Person. Ooh no. That is not possible. Wish I'd never started this process. My Top 10 Ranked Clueless Online Banking Platforms

In my experience with this company, I can't remember anything positive. Customer support mishandled consumer issues, and there were constant reports of incorrect balances sent to credit reporting agencies, which can severely affect your credit score, particularly during a mortgage application. Moreover, getting anything resolved was nearly impossible, regardless of how many times I reached out to them. Ultimately, nothing was accomplished despite their promises. Big dissapoinment.
