Excellent customer service

I was immediately contacted by Nationwide when there was some suspicious activity on my account. They send you a text and ask you to call and then go through the transaction they are suspicious account. I actually did not recognise the transaction they were referring to so my card was stopped and a new one issued immediately. This stopped my account from potentially being drained of my money. Easy and straight forward bank account.

Held my current account here now for over 5 years, never any problems, staff always friendly and helpful in branch. Easy to set up online banking and I use the app on my iphone daily. Means I can keep track of our money in the account. Reviewed on: 22nd April 2015

Still a building society, so no shareholders just well looked after customers

I have banked (and held a credit card and mortgage) with Nationwide since the mid 1990s. They could have become a bank like so many others did but instead have stayed as a building society. I probably trust them more than any other brand I interact with regularly. I trust them because they do business with their customers with integrity and intelligence. They have never been named in any banking scandals, mishaps or mis-selling and in that respect I am pretty sure they stand alone in the banking industry. On top of that their terms are fair and sustainable. They don't attract news customers in with gimmicks but offer straight forward advice, market leading value for money on their mortgages and they keep their customers happy with excellent service. If only there were a few more financial institutions like the Nationwide. Reviewed on: 5th February 2015

I have been a customer for over 15 years both in Northern Ireland and England and have always found Nationwide to be friendly , approachable and in tune with what its customers need. Interest rates haven't been the best lately for most banks but they now offer a loyalty savings account which is great. They were also very quick to pick up and deal with fraudulent action on my account. Building society for life

I opened my first nationwide young savers account when I was 11! Since then I've upgraded my account but Nationwide adapted with my changing financial needs so I've never needed to find another bank. There's always a friendly greeting at the entrance of my local branch and someone around to help (with the patience of a saint to help me work out those self service machines!) I've always felt fully informed of their financial products, they seem transparent and I've never felt pushed into buying a product that I don't need. Overall very good! Never had a problem in 30 years.

I opened my Nationwide FlexAccount when it very first started as I was fed up with my bank charging me for just about everything and they promised no bank charges. Well that was about 30 years ago and I have never had anything to complain about in all that time and for that I am very grateful. I often hear people complaining about their banks but I always only have good to say about Nationwide. And no they give me free travel insurance too! Reviewed on: 10th January 2015
